This shows that USA has the 29th cheapest gasoline of the OECD (developed) countries.
Maybe alternative energy sources would be pursued at a faster rate if this was not the case.
Then USA wouldn't need to invade other countries for their oil and the environment would be better off.
oh, i am sorry... I didn't know that the usa was the only country in the world capable of pursuing alternative energy sources. If australia comes up with something, please let us know. Otherwise, why don't you post facts instead of assumptions. Like, maybe, how actively is the US seeking alternative sources. And tell me, if the US went into other countries for the oil, where is it? Show me proof of this, or shut your hole.

by some scotts scientists, they developed a way to store hydrogen
in a solid that can power a car for 600 Km and in a space the size
of a regular gas tank. It seems to use ammonia in some kind of
solid catalyst that adsorbs internally then releases hydrogen,
LOTS of hydrogen, when heated. So instead of using gasoline,
you use ammonia. I think ammonia is easier to make in large
quantities than gasoline. Don't know if I would like having
an ammonia filling station nearby though, lots of engineering details
would need to be addressed if it is proven out. Ammonia is NH3,
so when it is broken down in the catalyst you get three molecules
of hydrogen and one molecule of nitrogen so it would be a
very environmentally friendly fuel. It will be interesting to find out
if the gaseous ammonia floating around such a device can be
sealed off effectively. Don't think anyone could drive if there was
escaping ammonia in a car.

almost as much fossil fuel as the US AND they are about
100 years behind in terms of making it at least partially
environmentally safe, as it is the chinese environment is getting
incredibly polluted. Why don't you do some studies on which country
produces the most pollution? You will find China high on the list
as well. What your problem is, you hate the US and the US
government in particular and ignore similar problems elsewhere.
Another huge flag of your own peculiar kind of hypocricy.

Why did America "help" Iraq but not help Africa, tsunami or Hurricane Katrina victims.
Oil !!!
By the way, I've been a manager of the $7M development of a corporate energy and greenhouse emissions management system.

BTW why aren't you venting at the Chinese?
China is the ecological basket case of the world, as far as I know. Great human rights record too...Plenty of work in Shanghai now, though. Don't you sometimes wish that capitalism wasn't so attractive?
