Most electric cars currently have fairly low ranges, but it is not nearly as big a problem as most people make out (no, you don't have to re-fuel every 30 miles).

It is no coincidence that electric cars such as the Tesla are mainly produced by independent carmakers, even though the big carmarkers have much more money at their disposal and can invest much more easily.
