Liberals want big governments that dominate Society. Republicans in the Most East believe in big government as well. Any of your establishment types want a government dominated society.

Society isn't "shut down"; that is a typically hysterical exaggeration. It has been fairly common in societies for a very long time to take measures that restrict the spread of potentially fatal infectious diseases, however.

How many doctors do you imagine are as comfortable with the idea of millions of people dying of this pandemic as you are?

Society has been shut down. Typically the sick are separated from the healthy. Never in the US have so many people been fired by the government from their private jobs.
