Originally posted by BartsIt certainly was changed. It said that the South had school children in bright uniforms on the island watching the military exercises. Then the article completely changed and nothing about the school children was in the article.
Possible, from the time-stamp it seems like the article was changed between your and my post.
I tried doing a search but only came up with this news story where the North accused the south of using civilians as human shields before the conflict started.

Since the allegations were made before, it is hard to get the right results from a search.
I found it.

This is part of what was said in the article.
{There was a theatrical quality to the exercises: Dozens of excited schoolchildren in bright yellow jackets were shuttled to the site to watch from bleachers as military music blared from loudspeakers.
President Lee met with troops manning a front-line army base in the east on the type of morale-boosting visit more commonly seen in the North. He vowed to retaliate if attacked again.}

South Korea does military exercises and the north bombs? Now the south is going to do it again and maybe provoke more responses?
Is there some specific reason to do military exercises within sight of the Northern border?
Wouldn't it be more prudent, if you have to do military exercises, to do them way south so the north would not have an excuse to a ...[text shortened]... ence in the response of the north, an admittedly insane regime but why provoke them like that?

I think the north is reasonable for reacting like they did. The south completely ignored the north when they asked the south to conduct the military exercises at a more comfortable distance.
Why do you think the North is an insane regime? I think they are playing their cards very well. I think the Kim family is very sane and deliberate.

It's called turning plowshares into swords. The north is starving so they have to put on a blustery show of force. Of course it still is irresponsible of the South to conduct exercises right on the border. There is absolutely no reason for that except saber rattling. They both are acting like belligerent school kids.
