As a political animal your preferences cannot be divorced from your politics or your political party of choice.
You republicans are misogynistic, homophonic, transphobic and racist scum and it’s perfectly legitimate for anyone to point that out, especially now that we’ve seen these negative attitudes being played out on the SCOTUS benches and republican state legislatures.
Got it?
@kevcvs57 saidyou ignore the fact that the US is a representative republic. The SCOTUS only returned control back to the states, where THE PEOPLE can vote on their preferences. You want the SCOTUS to force things on THE PEOPLE. The SCOTUS never had the power to grant abortion in the first place. The SCOTUS doesnt have the power to grant homosexual marriage...GOT IT?

These should curtail the things THE PEOPLE want...that is the way democracy works.
@mott-the-hoople saidI don’t ignore the fact but if SCOTUS is not there to some extent to protect the autonomy and freedoms of US citizens from extremist state legislators then what is the point of it?

Yes it has definitely returned to the states and now that the extremist state legislatures have enough rope they can hang themselves with noose of right wing tyrannical prohibitions that they are making for themselves. They can no longer hide behind SCOTUS and their extremist evangelical bases will ensure they do.

You are ignorant of the SCOTUS duties. They are there to interpret the laws the legislature makes. The SCOTUS cannot make law, which is what occurred with abortion.
Example of how it works. Congress writes law, a law is now being voted on to codify homosexual marriage. Im sure it will pass. Dems tried to codify abortion, their terms were so extreme they didnt get enough votes. If they had really wanted to codify abortion they would have pared it down to a workable agreement. Instead the dems put forth the most extreme abortion bill in history know full well it wouldnt pass. They made it extreme knowing that it wouldnt pass so they could use it as a election point.

@Mott-The-Hoople
You mean like the SEVENTY PERCENT of Americans WANTING to allow abortions?
So SCOTUS is riding on the 30% evangelicals who hate even the IDEA of women having control over their own lives or women in positions of power.
Yep, nice democratic front SCOTUS has chosen, they clearly want to make their OWN rules, and SCREW what the population wants.
@sonhouse saidthe dems put up a bill that included abortion up until the moment of birth...80 % are not in favor of that...and dems knew it when they put the bill forward, knowing repubs would have to vote against it. That was meant to fool ignorant voters like yourself.

" Most Americans reject abortion the day before a child is born (80 percent), abortion in the third trimester (79 percent), and removing medical care for a viable child after birth (82 percent)."

The problem with "states rights" is what about those red states that WANT to take freedoms away from Americans? I'm talking about inalienable basic human rights, like sovereignty over one's own body. The Constitution can't give those rights and they can't take them away, because they are natural rights everyone has just by being human. Read the Ninth Amendment AGAIN, for God's sake.
Most red states just want to do the minimum to get by. This is why the southern red states and other red states (like Idaho and the Dakotas) are such pits. They have crappy school systems, they have crappy economies, they have too many minimum wage jobs. Yet, time and again, they talk about how much they are FOR the people, when that lie has long since been proven false. They USE the people of their state to vote them back into the Governor's mansion. Do you think the Governor's kid goes to the same school system your kid is in? Hell no. They throw out pacifiers like "pro-life" and "gun rights", because their people are too freaking stupid to understand that those things have ZERO effect on their lives, while all the things that DO effect them are ignored by their state government.
The reason for having a strong central government is so that Americans in EVERY state are afforded the SAME rights. I live in Arizona, a deep red state since forever, and I suffer because the state refuses to help its own people, and ends up taking away more and more rights, mostly among PoC, because God forbid they take away the rights of white people. If only this were rare, but it is not, among state governments. This is why we need to even things out so that states that want to take shortcuts are denied, and to do this, we need Federal laws. "Leaving things up to the states" is a recipe for disaster that states love, because they can save money and keep their people down at the same time.

Stop being stupid.
Did you read the bill? No? So who told you what was in it? Someone who wants to lay the fear tactic on you so you are against a bill that helps people and actually helps restore some of their inalienable rights. They want you to be against it, and they're going to scare the bejesus out of you until you are against it.
All because you're stupid. They're just using you, man. And you can't even see it. Yet when the world's most famous con man runs for Pres, you guys fall all over yourselves getting in line.
While the rest of us are praying that "we don't get fooled again", you actually trample over us running to the polls to throw away your (our) god-given rights.
@mott-the-hoople saidThis is some really paranoid, dumbsh-- material, right here.

I have no words for how profoundly stupid you are.

To have someone who has supported gerrymandering, the filibuster, the Electoral College and the denial of millions of US citizens who live in DC and Puerto Rico their right to have a say in their national legislature pretend to be a supporter of the People is too laughable to bear.
In truth the only time you support any type of majority rule is when the majority would abuse that power to take away inalienable rights from a minority. The fact that the Founders told you the majority have no such legitimate power you blithely ignore as you pretend the 9th and 14th Amendments don't exist.
State legislatures have no legitimate power to limit rights of anyone and they certainly don't get to define the rights of minorities. This is so basic a feature of the US system that it requires a very large dose of wilful stupidity to claim otherwise.
