You pose an interesting question, Edwin. I find it absurd that we freak out over nudity, sex, and "naughty" words, yet are fine with violence, animosity, and desire for revenge all throughout popular media.
I love nudity, sex and swearing. I don't mind it on TV either.

It was a comedy action film for gods sake, so now lack of respect for someone dyeing is a laugh, ha, ha, ...[text shortened]... the klling is supposed to add to the entertainment I find it out of order.

I think that I speak for all men out there that while watching Charlies angels:
Lucy Liu,Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore are much more 'Interesting' then the other dead people in the background😉

The video game Jet Set Radio Future (JSRF) by SEGA follows the youthful exploits of a ultra hip and fun loving gang of graffiti artists on rocket-powered skates through Tokyo in 2024. To pass a level you basically tag over specific areas. The title screen as well as the manual warn players that vandalism is illegal (giant spray can with a crossed circle over it).
Eject and insert Ghost Recon: Island Thunder and I'm following the elite exploits of a team of U.S. Army Green Berets through a post Castro Cuba in 2009. On bonus levels I get to 'prepare a beach for a friendly invasion' or 'save an oil refinery from rebel forces' in the comfort of the third world. The only warning I get is that the Pentagon will not admit I even exist.
Gotta love it!

Without a physical body, how do you think we would be harmed by a sulfrous lake of fire? Without flesh to burn, why should a lake of fire be threatening to us? Do you think it is a non-physical lake of fire awaiting the sinful; a spiritual analogue of burning sulfur?

Zone episode that was along those lines. Someone ended up in a
room with an old woman sitting in a rocker, I believe she was knitting
and was very hard of hearing, a beat up old record player playing very
OLD music with an endless stack of records that were going to be
played one after another without ceasing. There were a few other
people and some other odd or no so odd things going on in the room
too. The person there thought it was the waiting area for Hell, and was
looking forward to it. He started going nuts waiting, until the devil
showed up and had a little conversation with him. At the end of the
conversation the devil told him two things. One he was where he was
going, it was not the waiting room, and two there was a room just like
the one he was in Heaven too. A fine example of perspective in this
life I guess, but not an actuate one with the description of Hell.

Could one float in this lake? Or waterski in it? Would wood float or burn?
Could fish swim in it?

An actual lake of fire designed for the devil and angels yes I do.
The scripture is quite plain on the 2nd death, Jesus did speak
about it more than he did Heaven if I'm not mistaken.
Originally posted by KellyJayYou don't think these claims of Jesus were metaphorical? Perhaps he meant the the suffering endured by those eternally seperated from God was akin to being cast into a lake of fire.
Lava, no.

it is unlikely we shall be able to prove it one way or another 'scientifically' (whatever that might mean), so i really don't see any purpose in debating it.
i personally liked the idea ivanhoe put forward some time ago about hell as a separation (by one's own choice) from God - and someone commented that that was far worse than any fire in hell.
i can't recall all the various interpretations of hell in the different religions, but does anyone know whether they all pretty much deal with fire? do some deal with say cold or some alternate form of torment?
i am also very curious to know, kellyjay, what you meant by the lake designed "for the devil and angels"?
was the fire designed for the devil or by the devil?
how do angels fit into this? can they be sent to hell? i thought that only lucifer was cast down?
in friendship,
