Yes, I already alluded to that in my third post in this thread. You could say (if you wanted) that the left is cynical about Republicans, or Bush to be more specific. But that goes without saying. It is axiomatic (or is it?) to say that the left is cynical about the right, and vice versa. They wouldn't be divided into left and right if they didn't harbor a certain amount of cynicism toward the other side. You could say that everybody is cynical about something. But that is pretty much equal to saying nothing. It doesn't make them a cynic in the full blown sense of the word.

Aren't opposing political parties always going to be cynical toward each other? The Right is in power so the Left is going to be very cynical towards them. If the Left were in power, the Right would be very cynical of all their actions. It's politics. To suggest only one side is cynical is being cynical.

OK, let me give you an example of my open-mindedness and lack of cynicism (at least for a moment). As you know I have been calling Michael Moore a fat ass and a complainer who does nothing but complain. Apparently Stang told him what I had written. I go over to Michael Moore's website and see some links devoted to actually making a difference with Hurricane Katrina. I applaud this. I'm sure he still hates Bush, but who cares. He's trying to make a tangible difference in his own way.

Is this a correct observation on my part ?

What could be a possible explanation for this phenomenom ?

What are your thoughts and opinions on this issue ?

EDIT: Serious answers and comments only, please.
The American Left is cynical - -an attitude of scornful or jaded negativity, especially a general distrust of the integrity or professed motives of others. Because useless they can accuse Bush of alternate motives and hidden agendas there would be nothing to attack.

Cynicism is ugly, such an outlook makes the world look bleak and hopeless, and you can clearly see this in certain post.

There you go, you see? Even complainers like myself have logged onto www.redcross.org to make a donation for hurricane relief. The left, we truly care. It's the right who are the veritable spawns of Satan.

This one I REALLY agree with.

Although many on the American Right display cynicism on a regular basis, the American Left is predominately cynical today in America due to an irrational fixation on Bush personally.
The same could have been said 10 yrs ago with the AR and Clinton. The difference being the AR was proven correct when Clinton was impeached.

Irrational fixation??? Like Bush has on Iraq? If you can provide me with a worthwhile opinion on how the war on Irag was a just cause, then i will bow down and agree that the left is cynical.

I have no reason to want to try to change your opinions on Bush and the War. We read and watch the same news most likely and simply interpet them differently.
I think the war on Iraq was a just cause, you don't. I accept that you judge things the way you do and respect your right to do so.
You don't have to agree with me for me to respect your right to your views.
The fixation on Bush personally should be obvious just from looking at the thread titles on this board.
...
a few:

"You know Bush sucks." by STANG
" Bush is a looter too!!" by STANG
"When Geo Bush speaks." by buckky
"How dare you slag out Bush." by kellsy

this doesn't include the thread suggesting it would be nice if someone assinated Bush (deleted)
......
Not very rational at all ... humorous, but not rational.

The main problem the AL has today is that they have no counter proposal. No alternative plan is proposed. We, the American people, have no idea what they would do. They don't (or can't) say what exactly it is they would do if they were the ones making the decisions.
Just criticism .. and that's cynical IMO.

"Cynics build no bridges; they make no discoveries; no gaps are spanned by them. Cynics may pride themselves in being realistic in their approach, but progress and the onward march of civilization demand an inspiration and motivation that cynicism never affords. If we want progress we must take the forward look."

I'm not an expert on politics, but any plan is better than no plan it seems, which is the impression Kerry gave (over the heinous international media to be sure). It seems sad that he was the best available opposition. Is there an alternative candidate for the next round?

Why sweet Ralph Nader's reasonable policies were not wholeheartedly embraced by the American public, I can't imagine.

This was true long before Bush became Pres, he is just a man
that everyone loves to hate at the moment. He get blamed for
everything, even things he has no control over, much like
Clinton was a lighting rod for the right.
