whenever anyone refers to stories over 2000 years old ... i tend to say ... yeah, yeah, yeah and nod my head a little as i drift off to sleep.
if it refers in a more practical way to the idea of killing kids ... then i agree ... it can be interpreted as sounding horrible ...

i acknowledge that i would have a great deal of difficulty, and would sway accordingly if my own son was involved.
in situations of lesser certainty i would have overwhelming inability to make the final lethal decision, although i may agree with the method in a very few circumstances.

especially for you ... what are the most borderline limits at which you could justify killing/murdering a child?
you ask a question of some strongly religious folk asking them to take risks with the most sacred of their beliefs.
everyone knows it is bad to kill kids: them and you.

The bottom line is he either doesn't want to give an honest yes answer because he would seem like a psychopath or he's too limited emotionally and intellectually to place himself in that position and think about what he would do. That's basically it.
