@averagejoe1 saidYou are pointing out several issues more important than protecting democracy in your country ?
You are right that I don’t care about an inquest such as this. Let me know when the Dems (the prosecution,) rests, and then, after a 1 hr recess, the Repubs ( Defendants) present their side. I may tune in.
You suggest that we are disinterested, but no more than you fellers are about inflation, fentanyl, Biden’s Border Crisis, oil, and many many more serious matters. ...[text shortened]... think you are right? , You think the courts are wrong? Wonder what Sonhouse’s position is!!! Hahaha
Jan 6 is more important than everything you listed.
And after that, you might want to mention Russia's invasion of the Ukraine.
Which is driving your pet hot button inflation.
Which btw is happening everywhere.
@averagejoe1 saidWhat exactly has gone wrong with America ?
So tell us about America Gone Wrong. Need I list the hell brought on by creepy stupid bumbling Biden?
You know, people who might live hand-to-mouth, and be content with that, pay no taxes, receiving little income, except for a check from the government, might not give a crap about the hell that our country is in because they are really not affected. They wish bad times on everyone else. Could be. Misery loves company..
That hasn't happened in other countries ?
By asking, I am not diminishing the importance of the issues you mentioned.
I'm just saying that the other issues are happening all over the world. Fentanyl is a problem everywhere. Inflation is a problem everywhere. Migration is a problem everywhere.
I doubt a GOP administration would do any better.
If anything, they'd probably be too busy banning abortion and same-sex marriage.

@techsouth saidThe problem, as usual, is that you have crafted a false analogy that you think is both obvious and leads necessarily to a conclusion you think is reasonable. Wrong on both counts.
0/2 on finding a liberal that likes to think.
You're all good at cutting and pasting talking points and repeating slogans though. So at least take pride in that. Thinking about issues aside from mindlessly repeating the crude talking points isn't for everybody.
BTW: this has nothing to do with Jan6th.
Sorry I wasted your time and forced you to write something here.
You have only succeeded in lending the forum an insight into the Jackson Pollock inner workings of your logic circuits.

@kevcvs57 saidOK. But a universal benefit would be things like paying for roads, hospitals. Education for our children, police,DEA, FDA, youknow the drill…. Services and benefits, which cover every person in America. UNIVERSIAL. Paying a loan off for certain selected people does not cover everyone in America. Can you respond to that or or is that just too complex? geez.
Again it’s not comparable because your example quite obviously a crime whilst Biden is carrying a policy that he campaigned on so it could not be a worse comparison.
when you are implementing these relief or benefit polivies it’s very normal and reasonable to set an upper limit means tested element, I prefer universal benefits clawed back from the upper earners through the tax system myself but hey 🤷🏻♂️ It’s the US we’re talking about.
@techsouth saidThumb up from AvJoe
How is it decided that Biden can do this? Is there anything he can't do as president?
Are there any relevant Constitutional guidelines, or does the president have unlimited power over financial matters of the US?
A president with unlimited power has a term associated with it.

@mghrn55 saidWhy do liberals think that loans that need to be paid off of certain individuals is a universal problem when it clearly is not?

@mghrn55 saidRussia/Ukraine is not driving inflation. They put the brakes on productive effort then showered the majic money around. The majic money (over supply of currency) causes inflation in good times, what it does in bad times when people can't go to work is 10 times worse.
You are pointing out several issues more important than protecting democracy in your country ?

Let me guess, you took the juice, wore a mask and thought that stopped the virus too.
I don't know which lie is more obvious and how big a lie needs to be for you to wake up...
They're lying to you.

@averagejoe1 saidWhat "Constitutional provision" is that?
Do you approve of Biden forgiving student debt? You will lose cred here on the Forum if you do, as you would ignore the Constitutional provisions restricting his right to do so.
Congress seems to have given the Executive Branch the authority to suspend or cancel student loan payments by the statute already mentioned. You are aware that the prior administration suspended all student loan debt payments, aren't you?

@averagejoe1 saidWhy, oh why, do you think a government program has to provide "universal benefits" to be legal/constitutional? There is no such provision anywhere in law and it's child play to think of programs that are specifically targeted to certain segments of the population (farm subsidies, disaster relief, the student loan program itself, etc. etc. etc.).
?

@averagejoe1 saidOh dear your just not getting it joe.

The term Universal benefits does not refer to infrastructure projects it refers to whether a benefit is targeted based on the income of the recipient. A universal benefit goes to everyone regardless of income whereas a means tested benefit is only paid to a target recipient based on income or some other factor such as disability or illness.
@averagejoe1 saidJust keep going to church on Sunday.
No question there is a trans x among us. Hair buns lead to tats lead to trans. I may cash it all in if it gives me a path to meaning in my life
You'll have everything you need.
@averagejoe1 saidI haven't touched on the student loan forgiveness issue.
Why do liberals think that loans that need to be paid off of certain individuals is a universal problem when it clearly is not?
I just don't know enough about it to take a position on it.
How about you ?
Do you think protecting democracy is more important than all those hot button issues that you seem to blame entirely on the Democrats ?
Much of what is going on today is because the COVID pandemic has created the bumps that have afflicted the start up of the economies around the world.
Maybe the president in 2020 could have smoothed out those bumps a bit, maybe ?
Instead of dancing on the stage like a circus beat mumbling "Kung flu", maybe ??
The Woodward tapes on his interviews with Trump are, actually ...... Embarrassing !!
