Over head the albatross hangs motionless upon the air.

And deep beneath the rolling waves
In laberynths of coral caves
The echoes of the distant tide
Comes willowing across the sand
and everything is green and summery.

Seriously , my old teacher used to hand load his own 300 win's . He loved it . What grain / type bullet are you using for what game ?

PS - Where in Wyo are you ? I'm in NE Col , actually closer to Chey town than Denver .
I live In Cody, about 50 miles east of yellowstone, very top left corner of wyoming, I dont know much about 300 win, My dad just bought a 300 Short mag, I like it, its alot flatter then a 30 06, Mostly for elk, but for deer and antalope too. I think he uses 140 grain bullets

PS, BTW, does anyone know the difference between the 300, and the 300 short mag, performance wise?

I would stay and debate it but I gotta go kill some rabbits and squirrels. I got a neat lawn chair that I shoot em from. I can even drink beer from my cooler I have attached. See Ya!!

I got a window in my bedroom that opens with a rope. When a deer goes up to the salt lick under the apple tree.....I can blast em' without even getting outa bed.

A shotgun or high caliber handgun seems the best way to take pigs in the heavy brush of Florida, however, I did recently took my first one with a traditional bow from 15-20yards, scary as hell and the best hunt I' ...[text shortened]... d be lethal to within 100yards. Most shots in FL will be less than 75yrds from what I've seen.
Hunting wild boar with a bow? I don't think they did that even in the Middle Ages. They used spears with crossbars so the skewered pig couldn't slide his body down the spear and rip your nuts off.

For deer a 7 mm Magnum is what I use, extremly fast shell, GREAT knock down power , very flat trajectory, 300 yards easy.
Do different bullets have different liklihoods of shattering? For example, would an AP bullet be less likely to shatter?
