-Removed-There are 11 recognized Federal holidays in the US, most are Mondays, but several of them are always on the day set aside for them, like Independence Day is always the 4th of July, no matter what day of the week that is. In that case, if they fall on a Sat. or Sun., the nearest workday is counted for the holiday as well.
How many of these "bank holidays" are there in the UK? And are there other holidays?
@the-gravedigger saidI get off once in a while.
We get a week off for shark week then a month off to celebrate Gay Pride.
@mchill saidSome would count as "bank holidays" if we called them that, since the banks ARE closed.
We have several 3 day weekends, but no bank holidays that I know of.
Not the ATMs, though. They are always open, unless there is a malfunction. I mean, that IS why they exist, to dispense cash when the bank is closed, right?
@suzianne saidTherefore we owe thanks for ATMs availability to bank closures?

I suppose you are going to tell us next that a permanent bank holiday is called bankruptcy?
