Do you include Scotland, Wales and Ireland for example? Are there any specific regions of England included in your analysis or is it all-encompassing? <wink> Does your state ...[text shortened]... these (even in jest) irritate the hell out of me in a nation where race is still such an issue.
Maybe its a be there thing. 😉

You've obviously read a lot more posts than me.

Thank goodness. I thought everyone was taking that seriously.

Not that I don't find the Turkish delightful, of course...

To understand this joke one must understand the situation in Germany.

Although there are only a few blinded nazi a**h*les left there are a bunch of jokes about prejudices against foreigners or certain part of the people of Germany (e.g. joke about OSSIS (eastern Germans) and WESSIES (western Germans))

Going like this: Come to poland ! Your car is already here (Joking about the fact that many stolen German cars are brought to Eastern Europe by crossing the Polish border.

But that has i.m.h.o nothin to do with nazi or facistic thoughts. They are just jokes. Something to laugh at. This is owing to the situation that we have many foreign workers or people looking for asylum in our country and that we don´t get it happen to avoid them to move together in certain parts of cities where the "German" people then sometimes feel threatened. Besides the fact that there are foreigners who abuses their right to flee from war to our country and do selling drugs or making fights etc. But there are only some who do this.
In addition their kids sometimes don´t speak German very well even when they are the third generation to live in our country because they speak their own language when home. Therefore they lose in school, no apprenticeship, no job etc. f*** for live.

Don´t misunderstand me, I got foreign friends but this is imho how it is nowadays in Germany.

And perhaps this was also how it was in Germany in the 1920s towards Jews. Just a few jokes. Not really racism.

The middle-eastern immigrants were there when I was stationed in Amberg in the late 80's and so to was the racism. It wasn't everyone, but is was obvious.

However, if the group as a whole doesn't assimilate into the population it can be understandable, but not correct, to see racism spread.

Given the level of unemployment and the amount of welfare in Europe, many here in the US don't believe that Europe will ever assimilate thier Middle-eastern immigrants.

Of course when those in the US talk about our immigration and try to juxtapose it against Europe's problems, they too are called racists.
