Judging by recent events, i would say that site performance/bug issues are probably much higher up on admins agenda at the moment. Though it would be nice if an official line was forth coming, as ignorance isn't really bliss in this particular situation...

There are two games in this world where integrity and honor count for all. Golf and Chess. These are supposed to be games of skill and gentlemanly conduct. To cheat at either is demeaning to the game and the man. There should be no allowances for cheaters in any form. I personally want no contact with this type person. Knowing I will never best in eith ...[text shortened]... ility to the game. Anyone cheating is beneath contempt, and what is there when one has no honor.
Originally posted by caissad4I play on gameknot and have done so for a few years. I am concerned about the reference to "known cheats". That is a very easy claim to make but perhaps not so easy to prove. I have every reason to believe that gameknot will ban a cheat instantly if it can be proved conclusively that he or she was cheating. I am a paying member on both sites, but will probably not renew my subscription at gameknot when it comes due. This has nothing to do with gameknot supposedly refusing to ban cheats, the simple fact is I personally prefer this site. I have seen many sweeping allegations in gameknot forums about certain players cheating, but alleging it is one thing and proving it is another. In any event there will always be some cheats on both sites, it cannot be escaped.
Many of us here are familiar with the site Game Knot and its' refusal to deal with known computer cheats. My own rating there is 250 points below my OTB rating while here it is 150 points below my OTB.
Question #1: Do you feel that sites which engage in this behaviour are a detriment to chess ?
Question #2 : Would you feel that a site such as that is ...[text shortened]... computer cheats were allowed to continue cheating would you feel as if you were being cheated ?
Chess engins are not the only form of cheating. These sand-baggers are evrey bit as bad. The lay back and wait for a tournement and then knock off all the player actually below their playing level. It is not uncommon to work your butt off to get up in the ratings and then comes along Mr. Sand-bag and on a simple draw he picks up large amounts of points. No matter the rate difference, a player should not be penalized for a draw. That would be one way to slow down the sand-bagger. In your own class you often get nominal points for a win and yet you lose points in a draw against the sandbagger. And often, a lot of points. I think the sand-bagger is every bit as much a cheat as the engin user. And also, when it is obviois to the mods, they should be banned from the site. I'm sick of losing all my progress to these scum.
To Russ and Chris:
Are engines now allowed on RHP or not? If not, what is being done to prevent such abuse?
And when an announcement explaining this whole thing?
Site performance seems to be ok now so I guess it is time to deal with this issue. Right?
This not an attempt to flame or throw some more gas into the fire, it is just the questions of one more concerned customer.
Enquiring minds need to know...

did ih8sens ever end up there?

nope. someone should be banned but the admins won't act.
I don't think the admins' actions have been fair to anyone. Apart from relieving the non-affected game mods from having to reach a decision, it has probably resulted in the worst possible set of outcomes.
They may have believed that the credibility of game moderation would not have survived the process had it resulted in one of team being banned. But in preempting the process, the credibility of RHP itself has now suffered.
I had hoped the admins would respond quickly with some replacement mechanism for game modding at RHP. But with each passing day that hope fades.
The best we can now hope for, given that the cat is well and truly out of the bag, is that they soon re-instate the game moderation concept as it was, but with a new set of members. The outstanding case in question being the new team's first task.
Whatever the warts and weaknesses. some game moderation is a great deal better than none at all.

How strong is the case against said Game mod ? Sound's like there's a big Arrow pointing at the dude saying "I'm a cheat", and as i know who it is, it is either unfair on the guy or unfair on all those he's playing right now (be it clan game, clan league game, or tournament).
