I take it no one here ever saw the truly creepy Hitchcock version of _Rebecca_, which has become one of my favorites. _Vertigo_ is high on the list, too. Of course, standards such as _Casablanca_ and _The Wizard of Oz_ go without saying. The original _Dirty Harry_ broke new ground, as well.

Which one? The 1951 original.or John Carpenter's version? That scene where the jaws open up in the guys chest and bite the doctor's arms off! Wonder why Carpenter never did a sequel.

Just too many to list!
Well those are certainly classics. I would vote for most of those
plus:
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Micheal Cane, Steve Martin. Funny, I couldn't
remember Steve Martin's name and googled in Saturday Nite Live
and saw the list of players year by year, I thought I would find his
name there but he wasn't listed in any of the cast lists, which I thought
odd, since I saw him on so many episodes.
Entrapment, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery. GREAT butt scene where she is avoiding the lasers.....
Jewel of the Nile, Kathleen Turner. loved that flick.
Silence of the Lambs, Godda love that one.
Pritzis Honor, Ever after, the grifters, Anjelica Huston, WOW, what an
actress.
The witches of Eastbrook, Cher.

Contact, GREAT film, anything with Jodie Foster

Freebie and the Bean. Very funny.
The Gods must be crazy part one and two. Classic!!!
Dances with Wolves. whats not to like?
2001, the whole series. Clarke is a genius, duh.
I am maybe one of the few who actually like Waterworld...

Hmmm, Just a guess here, you maybe like Woody allen??
Loved Sleeper. That scene in the climaxitron, the scene where
they are discussing food: Its amazing they didn't know Ice cream
and coffee was the best food for you....

Been there Done that! Actually I included it in my list, the books
were better though. In 2010 the movie had a very good representation
of what it might have been like to turn Jupiter into a small sun.
Not sure if it COULD be turned into a star, fusion reactions and all
given its mass but it was a great visualization.

Ooh, another fan of this one. I knew we had something in common - unfortunately 8-)
Off the top of my head, in no particular order and surely forgetting a number:
Alien/Aliens - they mostly come at night - mostly.
Repo Man - funny
357 Magnum - Obscure French movie from the 70s, but brill
Red Dragon aka ManHunter - the original Hannibal movie with a great soundtrack and a killer ending
Mad Max - all of them
Escape from New York
The Thing (Carpenter's)
The Professional
The Beast (of War)
Das Boot (aka The Boat)
Natural Born Killers
Black and White in Colour - another really obscure French parody. About colonialism. Wish I could find this for my collection.
Dr Strangelove - yeah!
Brazil
So many, so little time.
