Are there any other musicians on this forum? Just out of interest. I play guitar (quite well) and piano (not very well).
i've been playing the guitar since i was 14 so thats about 6 or 7 years, i've never had a lesson but i do study and practice hard on my guitar so i'm quite good. I have also learnt how to play the drums just by being involved with other musicians, i would love to be able to play the piano / keyboard and i think it will be my next project in music after uni has finished.
i have many influences, i love 70's rock and 80's metal, i'm a big fan of joe satriani and also enjoy listening to things by marty friedman, dave mustane, hammett, petrucci, steve vai, GnR, iron maiden, motorhead, etc..
as long as its not OTT like Yngwie Malmsteen and it has a good melody its fine
I play bass in a rock band. When we play as a cover band, we're called "The Word", and when we play as an original band we're called "Daylight for Deadeyes". We're playing an industry showcase at the Horseshoe Tavern this Tuesday (tomorrow) in Toronto. If you live here, come on out. If you live in Europe, buy your plane tickets now. Lineups are a bitch.
I am a professional cellist and music therapist. Being a very auditory person, I have been wondering whether I could somehow "translate" chess into music, but so far I have been unsuccessful... It's easy enough to find a logical musical representation of each square, but that's not really helpful (although it may be fun). But the opposite - translating music into chess - has happened to me: I was thinking of a d major scale, and I was visualizing it on a chessboard (involuntarily) where the d was at h1, e at g2, f sharp at f3. I didn't get any further because I was distracted by the f sharp being taken. 😀
i play guitar, blues mostly. I have been, good, real good, and so so. I depends on how much I practice. I tend to get burned out cause i play by myself mostly. I have a lot of effects and lay down chord tracks, drums and then play lead on top of it. The guy next door plays drums, but lately i spend most of my time working, playing shitty chess. expanding my mind and pissing people off in the forums.
