@fmf saidA very reasonable post.
Live setlists aside, if I were making a compilation, I'd draw a track or two from each of A Hard Day's Night (1964), Beatles for Sale (1964) and Help! (1965), but I think their more indispensable albumful-type greatness started with Rubber Soul (end of 1965) and Revolver (1966).
If they had played a gig in, say, October 1965, I'd have handed them this setlist:
A Hard Day's ...[text shortened]... de
All My Loving
And I Love Her
Yesterday
Can't Buy Me Love
Nothing from the first two albums
Additionally, "Rubber Soul" was instrumental in reinforcing the group's confidence in the studio and their corresponding decision to quit touring.
I'd have handed them thisNice setlist
A Hard Day's Night
If I Fell
Help!
Eight Days a Week
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Ticket to Ride
All My Loving
And I Love Her
Yesterday
Can't Buy Me Love
Nothing from the first two albums
'All My Loving' is from the 2nd album, 'With The Beatles'. It also has a very cool cover.
I think 'Please Please Me' might sneak into the setlist, especially as these are all 3/4 minute songs, max, so it would be a v short concert!

@blood-on-the-tracks saidI think it’s meant as what would be their worst set list of that year.
Nice setlist
@divegeester
No, he is saying what he thinks their strongest setlist would be with material prior to Rubber Soul.
Hence the inclusion of tracks such as 'Yesterday' (which surely we can all agree is 'a bit good'. ), and none of the tracks from the 'bad setlist' of the Beatles on the earlier post

@blood-on-the-tracks saidWell that would make more sense than my interpretation of it.

The Beatles are great!
I’m not keen on some some of the later slightly whacky stuff and especially not Ringo’s singing efforts.
@divegeester
I'm guessing you're not a great fan of 'Octopus's Garden' then, which would tick both boxes!
Ringo's 'singing' on 'Help from my friends' fitted in perfectly (shame Joe Cocker 'blew him out of the water' a little later), but agree most of his other efforts tend to not be highlights of the Beatles' career!
@rookie54 saidJust need to throw in a little Bowie.
i just made a mixtape of the beatles the police and the clash
@rookie54 saidBest not put Clash tracks directly next to Police ones

@blood-on-the-tracks saidThey shouldn't stand so close to them.

@blood-on-the-tracks saidI would add to FMF's 'best before Rubber Soul' playlist
