Has anyone here had their heart broken recently? What did you do about it? How did you recover?

Yes, I know... time heals all wounds. But I'm looking for some big secret to help the process along a little bit. Any success stories out there? Any keys to a quick recovery?
"Somebody fine will come along, make me forget about loving you".

Southern Cross

Time.....along with a new love will heal the rejection that comes with a broken heart.

drugs and alcohol can numb the pain
but a new love can ignite a flame

Pour everything you have into a productive distraction.

A good time to write a book or paint a masterpiece. (Redirect the emotion).

You will have to overcome the feeling of rejection, that's the hard part.

Only time will do that.

So true.

The other day, a good friend (male) who knows me quite well said to me, "Oh, quit cryin' about it, ya big baby!"

I appreciate everyone's responses, especially chaney3's Southern Cross mention, mchill's Aquinas quote, drewnogal's practical advice and as always, Torunn's wisdom.

Thank you all.

That brought forth a few sobs, and then, after blowing my nose, I did feel better. 🙂

I've heard the song before, but never felt it.

Thank you.

I already spent an hour earlier this morning noodling around on the piano to the jazz channel on Pandora. It felt productive, at least.

Edit: And oh, yeah, a big blueberry muffin with some Earl Grey helped, too!

The last time I was in your situation, Suzie, I opened my heart to a psychiatrist I knew, and sobbingly told him I felt so abandoned. He said: You are. It was not what I wanted to hear.

Muffins, is there nothing they can't do?

(A nod to Homer Simpson).
