Wow!! I've bowled one 700...706. I don't remember the exact date but it was in league and I got the high series, 700 series, and a cheesy ABC watch 😛 In the game was also my best score ever...285. Was so nervous at the end, of cours ...[text shortened]... up more but I think I need to at least be at a solid 190 average.
9 strikes in a row is about the best I've done, just couldn't get the 10th. 269 was a guess at my best, pretty sure that is about right. I hate when everyone is watching, I swear my legs were going to fall off... I could have easily tripped on my way to the line.

The only reason I know the dates, is I have the patches here in the office. I didn't get a watch or anything good!?

The 256 game I threw I was on pace for a 277. I started with a turkey, then 7 spare and struck all the way going into the tenth. I started to get nervous but it wasn't even my high game. In fact the ball where I blew it on could have struck. It wasn't a great ball but it was in the pocket, it was just really high and flat.

So you are on the East Coast, right? Do you guys call a strike on the opposite side of what you are aiming for a "Brooklyn" as well?
Originally posted by Joe FistYes, it is a Brooklyn... we joke about it 'not counting'. Bowling was fun Tuesday nights, cuz if someone had a bad night and bowled a 98 or something, they would call it out over the speaker system! Too funny. That was the big money night... Friday was the Drinking night.

My team came in second place, and we got $800 each. We paid 20 bucks each night to bowl. Lots of pressure.
At the end of the season, whoever won the most matches would bowl in 'the king of the hill' tourney. I got to do it, and stank it up in the first round with a 170. Crap!
Good times, good times. The lanes were wood, and just last year they switched the to synthetics. Have not tried them yet... but I sure hope to soon... all this talking about bowling is giving me an itch!
I'll need to whip out the Purple Rhino... I got it used from a friend for $40... and didn't realize I would never bowl again.

We pay $20 a week as well but the prize money isn't as good. 2 nights stay, bowling, awards breakfast, plus the money. Its fun. I've been in this league for about 5 years and we came in second one time too. Lanes are synthetic and I think its a huge noticeable difference between wood. Doesn't absorb the oil as quickly and not as many potholes as wood. I using a "Zone" I inherited from my dad but I also use an old Nitro. I gave my friend a King Cobra and somewhere around the house I have an old "Edge".

How is the big US of A? It's cold wet and dark in Nottingham.
I didn't get the jokes....no offense. Um in "Sunny Southern California", (you know "Hollywood" and all that) its raining...go figure.

He was meant to have lived around here, Sherwood forest used to cover a fair fraction of the country however so it's hard to be specific. I did used to live in a pub on Maid Marion Way however, and there's a Friar Tuck Lane somewhere. Robin Hood was pretty much mythical, there is no real history behind the story, we just exploit it for the sake of tourists.
Originally posted by rhbNo no no. It's worse than that. Actually I am an Evertonian (but not a Scouser) I'm actually on pain killers now because I haven't been able to stop pinching myself since October. Still I'm sure Mr Rooney will help bring us back down to earth tomorrow.
I would like to say it provided minutes of fun, but it was slightly less if I am honest.
I hope you are not a F*rest fan 😉😛
Originally posted by squaccermanI think you could be right... ManUre are playing well at the moment. Everton aren't doing too bad though. Good luck tomorrow regardless - hope Cahill bags a couple!

If you were offered your (Evertons) current position at the start of the season I bet you'd have taken it. I'd have taken 6th place for Derby in the Championship for sure 🙂
Anyway... enough hijacking of threads for tonight - back over to the bowlers whilst I get some shut eye... 😉

I thought you were making golf jokes, with low scores. I get it now, and now have a bit more background on my friends over 'the pond'.
Here it is about 30 F (just under freezing) and cold wind. We had rain past couple days, and today... the cold blew in in minutes.
