Just click my link VR to see my views and the views of others including psychologists. You say I know nothing of the subject, but it's all summed up in a simple read.
I do not spank my children, but I will if I need to if the time ever comes. A paddle on the bottom is not abuse, though a backhand to the face is.
Spankings are not a gateway to shaki ...[text shortened]... t. We can't debate a topic if you're unwilling to view my information on the subject.

Let another male adult smack you on the ass a few times and tell me what you think then.

If anyone spanked to the point of bruises, I'd agree with you. That's abuse.
Spankings don't even leave a red mark if done properly, it's just an attention getter.
How about cutting a switch? That's a good one. The kid must go outside and think, and pick a proper switch to bring in.
Thinking thinking thinking what they'd done.
Next, they get a sharp swat.
The swat is hardly the punishment, it's the anticipation of the punishment.

When I was growing up, disipline was much simpler. If we misbehaved, we got the belt, or the hairbrush. If we talked back, we got slapped. In my opinion, we got what we asked for. We learned pretty quick, that such behaviours were promptly dealt with. I did not then, nor do I now, consider it abuse. In today's world I am sure it would. Seldom would my parents resort to such measures. Usually most offenses meant we would lose privileges.
My point is, IMO this is what the difference is in my generation, and GenX-Z.
Today's people are soft, spoiled and lazy.
Damn kids
By the way Chuckie P, you never answered my prior question. LNX PLX

How do you know how hard a swat a child can take before it hurts?
You don't, until you actually do it. If the child cries when you swat/hit them then it hurt. That would be ABUSE!
Good Parent DON'T HIT THEIR CHILDREN!
You go cut a twig & I'll swat your ass with it, see how you enjoy it.

It was wrong then as it is wrong now.
Let me ask you a question? Do you have children, and if so, do you beat them with a belt or hairbrush?
I want you to know that is CHILD ABUSE~!
BTW...It was child abuse back then too. Because they may have given you a hug afterwards and told you how much they loved you, still didn't make it right. All you did is associate love with the Belt & Hairbrush.

The best was my friend Frank. He did something stupid, and his mom got the wooden spoon and swatted him like 2 or 3 times.
On the last stroke the wooden spoon broke.
We ALL laughed.
Good times.

So, you don't know if you would have continued the trend of abuse with your own children.

It is not my wish to debate with you my good friend. I do think we have opposing views here.
May God continue to bless you. 🙂

The good word has been changed too many times for it to even be accurate to quote from.
There is only one holy book that has never been changed since its conception. Do you know what it is?
It appear it is your wish to debate when you start quoting scripture.
There are those who think Child abuse is ok, even participate in it themselves, or joke about which is just as bad. That my Friend is what is truly SAD.
