I used it mostly to reconnect with long-lost friends. It worked very well in that regard.
Originally posted by NordlysI found about 340 friends and family members from elementary school, high school, university and onward. Of course, most of the "reconnects" were hardly significant and consisted only of a brief exchange of messages and maybe a wall post or two (sometimes less than that) but there are certainly a decent-sized handful of people whom I genuinely wanted to reach that I found on Facebook.

I used it quite a bit and spent a lot of time looking for people but now I just let 'em come to me. Much easier that way...
Originally posted by rwingettFacebook is lame. I never go there. I get stuff in my email everyday, so and so wants to be your friend, wants a spanking etc etc. I just didn't get into it.
I started a facebook page just to see what the deal was. After a week I honestly don't see what the point is. Why would anyone want to go to the trouble to do this? Perhaps I'm missing something, though. What are you supposed to do with these things?
I had to join because a friend from Tampere wanted me to check her new pics, from some exotic school trip to Egypt... but that was it. I never log in... I find it scary that my already non-existing social life may be even more narrowed if I get hooked up.
I prefer to go to the balcony, smoke sugar cane at the hookah, read some nice book or keep writing mine, paint, listen to music, and chat with the lady.

More insidious than facebook are cellphone chatrooms. Those really do eat into young people's time ...

Man, I must be a weirdo. I live in the land of Nokia and introverted people, and I have never heard of a cellphone chatroom š
