Yes, we have the same problem here in Canada. There is much publicity over the problem of childhood obesity. We are seeing more and more overweight children, caused in part by a sedentary lifestyle as well as fatty foods. Obviously, improper diet combined with lack of exercise will cause weight gain.

how do u judge if someone is overweight anyway?
There's really far too much good food in the world to waste your time getting fat on fast food. If you plan on getting fat, at least have a little style.

Lol, good point. smaller portions would help though.

fast food is cheaper, many families can't afford the expensive good stuff.

Hmm, but the fast foods are still more expensive than fresh veggies.

It's survival of the fittest isn't it? Those that can control themselves will live longer than all of the fatties, indeed (hopefully) they will have more children as well, who wants to shag a fat person anyway? 😕

The system does tend to favour all the fatty foods now though, and perhaps we should readdress the balance in favour of healthy foods, and also try to protect the children, it's not as much their fault as it is the adults. I don't think we should do much more though, people have the right to be fat. 😠

When I was young (I'm 49 now) i.e. from about 10 to 15 years old we used to play football for hours in the nearby fields or as near as possible to a field, it was a nuisance to have to go in to eat my tea (I'm a northerner that's what I/we called dinner then) then I would be straight out playing again, and I was hopeless at football compared to say the school team. I'm not sure but I don't think kids do this anymore? We used to play football or something equally energetic about 15-20 hours a week in the summer (not so sure about the winter). I don't play football in the streets anymore abvioulsy but I still jog3 times a week and ditto cycling with my dog.

When I was a baby, I weighed about as much as a big sandwich. That was years ago. Now babies are the size of cars. Still, I'd never eat one.

Jeez, that's what America's known for...about 64% of the US adult population is overweight...according to recent studies...thankfully, I am in good health and not overweight in any way...
