Feivel,
I can understand why the religion threads would bother you. It would irk me slightly if the forum was plugged up with religious post proclaiming something that can be said never happend, and all that you got back when you challenged it; is quotes from a suspect source. Your posts in argument are valid and well worth investigating and It is not lost on anyone of reasonable mind. You come here to enjoy yourself and to debate with a reasonable mind and I can understand your frustration.

I enjoy every debate. 😀
.... but .... I do not want to confront people with debates who do not want to be confronted with debates. That's why the Debates forum was created. If you want to visit the Debates forum you know what you can expect and if you cannot handle an innocuous Bible study thread in a debates forum .... well ....

So if members of other religions wanted to post their views you'd be ready to "debate" them? That sounds like what you're saying. And you've already addressed their views as "silly ideas" and "nonsense". I'm sure they would disagree with you there.
If I think someone's views are silly, and he disagress, that sounds
like a debate in the making! Why should we shun this debate?

Debates, but one of the things that the Debates forum was specifically
designed to accommodate. This design is reflected in that forum's
description, which refers to heated religious discussion.
The only reason they are now plaguing the precious General forum
is because posters in the Debates forum complained, unjustly in my
opinion.

So the debates forum posters don't want them, and the general forum folks don't want them, and some people want the religious discussions to be in their own separate forum.
Well my answer then is "I don't know". I'm still undecided on this one. I DO WANT people to post on topics that interest them. I'd hate to see a topic like religion not be allowed at all on the forums.

debates forum, you will find that no more than 50% of them
were made to enourage debate. The mystery is why RBHILL
was singled out.

Hold it, hold it there ...... nobody said that. SOME objected .... one of the most fanatical people who opposed the Bible study threads, is now debating, yes indeed DEBATING RBHILL in the very same threads he wanted to be removed from the DEBATES, yes indeed the "DEBATES " forum.
I'm afraid one of the mods ..... let's all make a guess 😀 ... decided prematurely to move the "Bible Study" thread to the General forum.

They do a good job. Would you want to be caught in the middle
of all of this arguing, when you know that no matter what you do,
half of the people are going to think you aren't a good moderator?
The moderators are just the middlemen responding to the community.
So it is the community, not the moderators, that we should convince
and direct our arguments toward.

Good question Cribs. You get a rec for that one.
Maybe it has something to do with anti-Christian sentiments ? The way Feivel talks about Christians isn't exactly .... erm ...flattering .....
*coughs* ....
