Florida Meet up

Just to be curious, Would there be an interest in a Florida Meet-up. I may be able to make all arrangements for Hotel stays, and a conference center as well for games.

There has been a suggestion by Hand of Hecate to meet at Universal City Walk, out Orlando. in February. This sounds good to me.

anyone wish to exand upon an actual date or dates?

Let's just agree about the date first, then we can look for the place.

Hey, I'd be interested in after March. :-) For us broke students: a) what classifies as "cheap", and b) anyone interested in car pooling from NC? Might be cool as a weekend deal.

I'll be in Orlando for the last 2 weeks of March with HER family & WELCOME any excuse to get out for the day/evening/night...

Firstly you need a list of people who are interested in going to the meet, to get this you will need to copy and paste the following in a message to Russ.

Hi Russ, I am trying desperatly to organise the Florida meet up. Will you please spam the following to all users bearing the USA flag.

SUBJECT : Redhotpawn Florida Meet-up!

We will be having a meet-up in Florida at some point this century, at first I just need to know who would be interested in joining us for an afternoon of chess, chilled beer and good times, please post in Thread 54815 if you are interested.

Once I have a list of names we will decide on a venue and date which would suit the most people.

Then just wait, for no more than 1 week, by this time you should have a list of interested parties, this will be your meet up spam list.

You can then PM them all at regular intervals to organise the rest of the meet by putting comma's between the user names in the "send to" box.

Your first spam should include the following.

SUBJECT: Redhotpawn Florida Meet-up!

You have all shown interest in this meet up and now we need to decide on which city and venue we will be holding the meet, a few have already been suggested such as:-
LOCATION 1
LOCATION 2
LOCATION 3
etc
Please post your thoughts and ideas in Thread 54815.

Once you have decided on the venue that the most people would be willing to travel to you will need to decide the best date for the most people to attend.

send something like this to your spam list.

You have all shown interest in this meet up at 'LOCATION' and now we need to decide which date will be the most convenient for holding the meet, a few have already been suggested such as:-
DATE 1
DATE 2
DATE 3
etc
Please post your thoughts and ideas in Thread 54815.

Once you have decided on location, date and who's going you will need to maintain the potential attendees interest, you can do this by sending out periodical spam to your list and by appointing one of the active forum posters as "Chief motivator and bumper of meet up thread"

Tips- At some point you will need to take control and make difficult decisions which will mean some people not being able to make it to the meet, unfortunately if you don't take control and make these decisions NO ONE will get to go because there won't be one!
