everywhere we go people wanna know who we are so we tell them WE ARE THE TITANS THE MIGHTY MIGHTY TITANS GO TITANS!!!!!!
Titans... Yeah, they used to be the Oilers... I've heard of them. Too bad they need to play my Patriots in 9 degree weather... 9 if it is warm! Last night it was 4 degrees at 8:30.
Good luck!!! Any game can go either way!

The Pats win! ๐
13 games in a row, each win by 14 points or less.

Patriots will now face either Colts or Chiefs next week.

Edit! Sorry ghostryder10 but what a great game. Your team was ranked as second to win the super bowl... I wish we met your Titans next week! Um, no I don't!

The reason it (Soccer) doesn't take off in the US is because, let's face it, it SUCKS. Guys running up and down the field for 90 minutes and crying when they get their knees scraped or their shins bumped and then you may get only one point......then you gotta worry about the Hooligans and making out of the stadium alive...yeah, great national past time...๐
But then again, people don't understand why I like watching tennis and basketball. Perhaps it just comes down to what sort of physical skills we, as laymen, envy.
Originally posted by Poison GodmachineI think it is because of the basic nature of our society. A few people land on the american shore in 1520. Their only goal is survival. Territory fought for and attained. "First and Ten!" Over and over again.

Today is my "honest" day.
I love football. Mostly I loved playing it. Even the broken ankle, broken collar bone and separated shoulder. No hurt could take the enjoyment away. Nor playing the last game of the year in Afton Wyoming in a blizzard at minus 45 degrees F. could take away the enjoyment. It is "me" against "everything". The opponent... the weather... the coaches... the sillyness of the rules. Can I do this?
You take "territory". You have offense and defense. Just like life. Just like war. Just like good and bad.(evil doesn't exist). Life is football. Soccer is just a bunch of guys trying to score. Even Rugby doesn't stop and weigh to the inch the "territory" conquered. It's only goal is to score. Same as basketball. Same as all except "American Football". America is based not on score, but on territory. This would serve Europeans well when trying to understand americans. The prize is only at the "end zone". End is the key, i think.
And what do you do when you "take the end zone"?
Why you give the ball to the other team and say..."Your turn." This would also be a good thing for Europeans to understand about americans.

watch out patriots here come my colts. you wont get another goal line stand this time
I picked the Chiefs in the first week. Wrong again. Oh well. Good luck to you. I always adopt the team that beats "My Team"...
Go Colts! By the way... this is just a return. I was in love with them for all of the Unitis era. Old guys don't mind revisiting our youth.
The Colts.... I am not surprised. I had hopes to get the Chiefs... just cuz I thought they were good.
Guess not... but that doesn't mean the Colts are good either.
It has become FACT. Patriots do what they need to win. I'd like to see a blow out.... but I fear another nail bite game to the final seconds....
What a fun season either way... Go Pats for Superbowl 38! If not the Pats.... Go Colts!

USM, how about a simple bet?
If your Colts win I will go buy a Colts Hat and send a picture of it sitting on my keyboard next to another random Item of mine to prove it is me with my new hat.
I would also promis to wear it to work and golfing once if you want the bet to get BIG.
Would you do the same?

You've got about a week to think about it!
i will accept your bet but the odds of me finding a patriots or even a colts hat on a base in north carolina are slim. id have to get one offline. that aside i dont think ill have to go to the trouble anyways๐

No offense, but American Football appear to me to be one of the most pointless sports even invented. Helmets, shoulder pads, hut, hut hut, what is that all about? You are more likely to get injured playing Rugby Union, and I dont see them wearing motorbike crash helmets and massive shoulder pads.
Whilst im at it, maybe someone could explain, how baseball has a "world series" when Americans are the only ones to play it?[/b]
The point is not that people are waring these protectors not to protect themselves per se, rather so they can hit the opposing players harder. Look at how players in rugby tackle these days, upper body, full on, driving the player backwards. Players are hitting harder, and looking for more solid contact zones as they have more protection from padding.
In US Football, head v head contact is a major part of the game, when you hit another player there is nothing as satisfying as literally knocking their head off, if a player is held up in a tackle you can be sure he is going to get a huge crack in the head from somewhere. In this game you tackle with your head pretty much in the chest of the oppenent, the shoulder pads lock your helmet and spreads the force accross yorur shoulders so you just don't snap your kneck. They are wearing those helmets to try and knock the sense out of their opponents, not because they are scared to get hurt!

Sometimes it is overlooked, if it is deemed a mistake... but if you have a player held up and someone comes in with their helmet as a spear they will penalaize the team in yards, and the player in money.
It's still cool to knock someone's head off... as long as they can pick it up and get back in the game!
