Like to visit: In October myself and a pal are driving across the Sahara desert. Agreed to it after a few beers but we have bought an old Land Rover and are now kitting it out for the trip.
An “old land rover” to traverse the Sahara…?

LOL very true. There is an old saying, 'If you want to drive through the outback buy a Land Rover, if you want to return buy a Land Cruiser.' Land Cruisers were out of our budget. I wanted to go for a Shogun but my pal was set on a Land Rover.

Several years ago I had sand dune excursion in the UAE in a Landcruiser, amazing vehicles.

Yes, Toyota make great vehicles. I have a soft spot for Jeeps but they do have reliability issues.

Me also.

We stayed in a log cabin on the banks of Loch Lomond which was lovely, but next time I’d stay in different locations as the out and back driving almost double the miles.

Glencoe area was like something out of a poem.
Well if you ever make it to Canada, you’re invited to visit us in Canada’s (Ontario) Glencoe.👍

Avoiding of course school holidays as the traffic can be intense.

September just after kids go back can work if you’re fortunate with the weather.
The last time we were there was late Sept/early Oct 2016 and unbelievably there were few days that included rain.👍

Yes, Glencoe in the mist and rain looked beautiful. We stayed in a fabulous lodge on Loch Lomond. That was where I experienced a very spiritual moment while looking at a print of the Monarch of the Glen. I felt his pain and from that day never ate meat again.

We were fortunate enough to have good weather, although the midges on the lock where like sparrows and we all got very bitten.

A girl I dated used to do that... While in Colombia when referring to USA I'd always just say America... 'we're already in America' or 'what part of America' she'd reply.

It didn't stop, it's just in our minds that America is USA.
