I hold back on the internet, in real life I'm more direct. but the thing is, in real life I don't have to deal with morons nor overly sensitive people, so I hardly ever get into an argument. here, you can't avoid an overly sensitive person reading what you write, and interpreting it as a personal insult of some kind. sometimes it feels like being on a forum filled with neurotic ex-girlfriends, and there's just no winning no matter what you do.

now, I can take the heat, no problem. you'll never see me whining about people attacking me, because I simply don't care. but there are a lot of people who can't, and that's when the problems arise. because people are not going to treat them like little children just because they're sensitive. it's an adult world, and you're expected to be able to take care of yourself. if someone's a wimp with poor argument skills, and tries to take on a battle hardened debater, there's only one way that'll end.

another thing though could be that we're on a chess forum. which probably attracts obsessive, nitpicking people, who can't really let things go when they see an 'illogical claim' or any aberration from whatever 'rule'. I suspect things might be different on a yoga forum, where people are less 'scientific' in their mind set. although I might be wrong, as the 'sensitivity issues' are probably more frequent there. anybody a regular of a yoga forum or anything similar?
