Bottom line, and I have little interest in re-entiring the quagmire of the general forum, there was a small group of addicted users who sought to control and dominate this forum. They got their wish and now they find their "creation" boring and lifeless...
Be careful what you wish for...
the general forum was always, and inevitably, a mostly crummy affair, populated by a combination of forum addicts, low-lifes, bores, egotists, and normal people just passing through for as long as it vaguely amused them. (of course, i like to consider myself in the latter category...)
i was a fairly regular visitor a few years ago, but now only drop in very occasionally (have pretty much abandoned the site for facebook, let my subscription lapse, etc), but for what it's worth, i don't see that anything much has changed, except for some of the names.
