Sorry Grampy - you're not Universal Donor if O+.
I'm O- thats Universal Donor. Valuable stuff!!
you're either o negative or o positive. all the o pos people can donate to any other pos blood group but can only receive from other o pos people and via a verse for o negs.
so with about 80% of the worlds population being a positive blood type you can't get anymore universal as o pos.
pwned by an 'american' idiot.. you can't be feeling all that good about yourself right now.
edit: forget the 😛 lol

O neg can be received by anyone that is why it is known as Universal Donor.
There is currently a radio advertising campaign around London for donors and they stress they need O negs.
Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type
Blood group O (or blood group zero in some countries) individuals do not have either A or B antigens on the surface of their RBCs, but their blood serum contains IgM anti-A antibodies and anti-B antibodies against the A and B blood group antigens. Therefore, a group O individual can receive blood only from a group O individual, but can donate blood to individuals of any ABO blood group (ie A, B, O or AB). If anyone needs a blood transfusion in a dire emergency, and if the time taken to process the recipient's blood would cause a detrimental delay, O Negative blood can be issued.
Interestingly AB pos is Universal Recipient.

my bad 😵
can i have your name and address in case i ever need your blood? 😵
edit: check out the amount of O- blood types in asia... slightly screwed if we needed a blood transfusion there.
Originally posted by trev33That doesn't really make sense...Sure, only 7% of the people have your blood type, so there are less people to donate it.
pretty much the same boat as me but with the positives... you can give blood to any other positive blood type but only receive for your follow o pos. just googled it... according to wiki there's 37% of americans with your blood type. 6.6% with mine... i'll swap you a negative for a positive? :p
However, there are also less people who need it, so wouldn't it come out to the same?
Lets say 25% of people donate blood, and 5% of people need a blood transfusion, and each person donates one liter of blood.
Take a sample out of 1 million people
70 thousand have your blood type, and 17.5 thousand will donate blood, and 3500 need a blood transfusion.
Each person needing a blood transfusion gets 5 liters of blood.
370 thousand have GB's blood type.
92500 will donate blood, and 18500 need a blood transfusion.
Each person needing a transfusion gets 5 litres of blood
Get my drift?

ANYONE can receive Oneg blood (apart from some rare exceptions)
Onegs can ONLY receive from Onegs.
ABpos can receive from ANYONE (hence Universal Recepient)
Check out the table on the Wiki link I gave previously.
Originally posted by wolfgang59The Japanese blood type theory of personality is a popular belief that a person's ABO blood type is predictive of their personality, character, and compatibility with others. This belief is also widespread in South Korea.[70] Deriving from ideas of historical scientific racism, the theory reached Japan in a 1927 psychologist's report, and the militarist government of the time commissioned a study aimed at breeding better soldiers.[70] The fad faded in the 1930s due to its unscientific basis.
