a broom is drearily sweeping
up the broken pieces of yesterday's life
somewhere a queen is weeping
somewhere a king has no wife

"I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand, walking through the streets of Soho in the rain".

Warren Zevon, Werewolves of London.
did you know that werewolves are dark-skinned?
some are black
black as night
as black as the soul of a gravity well at midnight
and they're all looking for a place called lee ho fooks
because
beef chow mein

which is also black

I like white werewolves who seek Chinese food.

C'mon bozos.
Give me a song.
No reason to get excited.
The thief, he kindly spoke.
There are many here among us,
who feel that life is but a joke.
But, you and I, we've been through that.
And this is not our fate.
So let us stop talkin' falsely now.
The hour's getting late, hey!

I was a free man in Paris, I felt unfettered and alive,
nobody calling me up for favors, nobody's future to decide,
I'd go back there tomorrow but for this work I've taken on,
stoking the star maker machinery behind the popular song.

Joni Mitchell.

This is a great couplet from a Robbie Williams song (Strong), which I just wish I had written

'In the morning, when I wake up
I look like 'Kiss', but without the make up
And that's a great line to take it to the bridge'

And it is, and it does

“Take a sad song and make it better”
More Beatles

“All we need is just a little patience”
Who would have thought that Guns and Roses would have a pandemic anthem.

You keep coming back like a song,
A song that keeps saying, "Remember."
The sweet used-to-be that was once you and me
Keeps coming back like an old melody.
The perfume of roses in May
returns to my room in December.
From out of the past, where forgotten things belong,
You keep coming back like a song.

~ Irving Berlin
