@torunn saidWhat a wonderful selection. I've never tired of that song.
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all
Judy Collins' crystalline voice simply amplified Joni's genius; Joni's masterpiece.

@hakima saidThat's incredible Hakima!
...She's wearing rags and feathers from Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey on our lady of the harbor
And she shows you where to look among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed, there are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love and they wil lean that way forever...
I've not been familiar with Cohen.
And I've never heard that song before. It's wonderful with exceptional lyrics.
Thank you for making a bleak day a little brighter.
- "Suzanne"
by Leonard Cohen
Well I think it's fine, building jumbo planes
Or taking a ride on a cosmic train
Switch on summer from a slot machine
Yes, get what you want to if you want, 'cause you can get anything
I know we've come a long way
We're changing day to day
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you roll on roads over fresh green grass
For your lorry loads pumping petrol gas
And you make them long, and you make them tough
But they just go on and on, and it seems that you can't get off
Oh, I know we've come a long way
We're changing day to day
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you've cracked the sky, scrapers fill the air
But will you keep on building higher
'til there's no more room up there?
Will you make us laugh, will you make us cry?
Will you tell us when to live, will you tell us when to die?
I know we've come a long way
We're changing day to day
But tell me, where do the children play?
tell me please, where do the children play?
@caesar-salad
REM, don't place the song.
Obviously a football team (soccer) 5-0 down after 15 minutes!
@caesar-salad saidI've loved that album since 1983.
"eleven shadows, way out of place"
It's a Michael Stipe masterwork, in lyrics.
Album - "Murmur"
Song - "Perfect Circle" (Stipe's pronunciations are creative and fun.)
Every song's a meaningful gem.
@wolfe63 saidStipe's lyrics, the phrase-making in Gibson's Neuromancer (e.g., "lunar concrete" ), and band flyers in the college town I was living in at the time all helped something click for me about the art of putting words together.

Way back in the day when I was exploring new music, I was a subscriber to Stereo Review (a print magazine) and took a chance on Murmur based on a review by Lincoln Steffens, which was probably only about an inch and a half column inches long.
@torunn saidGreat song: I haven't heard that one in many years!
