If a ''well socialized dog'' listens to its owners if they ask nicely, no problem. The main point is that they listen, i dont care if the animal listens to kind words or a firm hit in the face, as long as it listens.

Positive reenforcement, only? So if your dog is biting someones legg you can only encourage this, saying it should not bite has no effect? lol

I got a lovely lesson when I had to take my 18 year old miniature poodle to the vet after he collapsed - she said that a loyal pet will hang on two to three years longer out of loyalty to its owner, and gave me old Paris a dignified death. She then said me a lovely bereavement card, which she had no reason to do other than compassion. I was certainly moved.

It is amazing what effect an animal has on a human, in my case he was a mate, not in the beginning, nut after my daughter had tired of him, and he latched onto me, and he was my most loyal friend, If you have not owned a pet, you will have no clue what I am saying, especially a dog and a cat,

It takes a long while to get over such things. My dog at 18 years old was nearly 110 years of age in human years. πŸ™

No my dog, Paris ate everything I ate, rightly or wrongly, everything I ate - the vet said my diet was good for him.

I guess my beef is with pet owners that allow their pets to trash the town. If I didn't know that the pets were around I wouldn't squak.

Mind your manners and animals!

Nothing like a dog owner who puts their dog out to bark. I know they hear the dog, but they don't seem to care since they are doing what they like while the dog is outside barking for hours on end.

If you hear your dog barking, tell the beast to pipe down. No one else in the neighborhood loves YOUR dog like you, and though it might be convenient NOW for you to have your dog outside barking... We don't want to hear it.

Do You Got That?

I agree with you. But your post concentrates to much on one thing; A dog barking in thier own backyard.

As i have mentioned before the whole issue is whether the dog listens to its owner or not. If the dog listens to its owner it will just shut up inside the house when the owner tells it to, and it doenst have to go outside at all.

So eventho I agree with you and think you illustrated this problem pretty good, i will not award it with a rec since it only concerns one detail and the underlying problem has already been given.

Dogs barking in their own yard doesn't mean a thing, unless the owner has a sound proof yard for some reason.

I've never heard of a sound proof yard.

Listen, you rec my post or I start pointing out your spelling errors.

Deal? I sure hope so.

I let my dog bark during the day, not after 930. She's outside on nice days watching birds, people (possible enemies) and such. If she barks, no real harm done. Plus out here people are more relaxed about dogs. Dogs are always barking.

You were talking about a dog, outside, barking, with neighbours hearing that.
I added the backyard, cuz thats mostly where you would put your dog right? Isnt backyard a word? Should i have used garden?

What are you on about the sound proof yard? If the yard is soundproof the nieghbours wouldnt hear the dog right...i dont think i understand you.

I think my post pretty clearly pointed out why i am not going to rec your post. I would like your help on my spelling, Deal! Thank you.

During the day? That is like total discrimination against people that work night shifts and might want to sleep during the day.

I dont know what Phlabibit thinks but i think your dog barking is a total crime. It should be punished by shooting your dog.
This will give you one advantage; you could add her to your skull collectionπŸ˜‰

I'm talking about a stupid dog that barks and barks and barks.

If I'm in my yard with the kid, wife, or friends, do you think I want a dog constantly barking at us?

That's just rude, and the dog owner isn't being very considerate of people around them.

Again, the dog owner loves the dog and barking might not bother them. That doesn't go for everyone around them.

When I had a dog (some time back now) I'd tell the dog to keep it down. That's just called consideration for others.
