Agreed, I had a quick chat about it with the guys in the studio and they say that an artist isn't a person who can draw technically well, it's a person that can bring a character or scene to life, giving it style, an essence that is theirs alone. Mokko, encourage your daughter to draw scenes, not just characters profiles. Make those scenes as varied as possible and get her to place her characters in as many positions and doing as many different actions as possible. Encourage her also to look at as many other artists in the comic or animatio world as she can.

The photoshop skills are a bit shoddy though. Someone could do with a bit of practice there.

Well, yeah, all those folds and things can be pretty fiddly.

Ya...this is just one out of thousands of drawings she has tucked away in her potfolio πŸ˜•......She works with all sorts of styles and some of her better more detailed pictures she keeps very well protected. With two younger sisters on the lose she doesn't take any chances around here.

You should see some of the sword fight scenes she does!

Maybe you should get her a book on how to draw manga for her birthday or some other occasion. It would give her a feel for some of the tricks that are actually quite easy to do when you have talent and look really stunning. πŸ™‚
I think she owns them all!

She even has a series of her own characters that she works on....her story boards are very funny to read at times...but she mainly practices on known characters just to get the techniques down. She actually started of with learning and perfecting characters from Pokemon and is now more ino full metal alchemist. (or something like that) I guess Inyuasha and Naruto are now "kids" stuff πŸ˜•

I'll see if I can't get some of her other stuff off of her. She's still sometimes very shy of her work and I think fears critisism as she always sees the flaws in what she does. I'm really hoping to break her out of her shell a bit more.

I thought it was pretty good her first time using it. She's going to need a lot of time to figure out all the program has to offer.
