There are more people who read literature about their car after they bought it than there are people who read literature before buying a car. This is thought to be because they are more concerned about being able to feel they made a positive decision than they are concerned about planning in advance of the decision. We tend to rehearse giving positive reviews of things we own and things we have decided to do as a coping strategy. Do companies like Amazon cynically exploit that as cheap advertising??
BTW I think this is a really excellent post and I am now going to try and figure out all of it's positive features.
