@a-unique-nickname saidAfter he says crap about me, do you have an issue with tunnel vision Trevor?
Isn't it you who keeps bringing up the Euros thread? Anyway, the point is you can't argue with yourself, if you all ignore each other eventually all the squabbles will disappear.
Do you seriously think gooster is going to stop over night?.....PLEASE!!!

@divegeester saidSo VR, a recovering alcoholic, is either trolling a person who he genuinely thinks has a drink problem about their drink problem… or he’s trolling a person he doesn’t think has a drink problem using the worst thing he can think of from his own life.

Interesting.
Bingo

Bingo
You don't seem to be so brave by yourself, why is that?

@very-rusty saidIf you are 68 now that means you gave up drinking at age 36. So a drinking career of about 18 years. That makes you a novice booze hound or talented amateur at best.

@the-gravedigger saidI have been drunk, to varying degrees, nine of the last ten days. I can't remember a sequence quite like it [...student days aside]. It's been rather different from my usual once-a-week booze session.

So much for hypothetical considerations; the reality of the evidence from data collection reveals that it's a really bad idea. This is the positive aspect of the world of digital reality, as it cannot cause any physical harm. Therefore, let us maintain the meet-up hypothesis as a virtual one and avoid testing it in the physical virtual world, which is merely another layer of virtuality, but where pain and pleasure feels more real.
Since chess is the primary objective of this site, the game inherently carries an element of battle. In this context, we are all engaged in a battle of sorts, debating unrelated chess subjects without the structure of a checkered board.
In this chessboard of discourse, the players are not merely moving pieces; they are the pieces themselves. They engage in vehement debates, trading insults and accusations as they maneuver their arguments, setting word traps, and planning future ambushes to draw the opponents out in the open by any means. The forums resonate with the clash of ideas, where each post is a move in the game, and the outcome is determined by the strength of the argument and the skill of the player. It is a battlefield where the stakes are high, and the victor is the one who can best navigate the complexities of the argument, using their words as weapons and their wit as a shield. We form alliances and come to the aid of our comrades. However, sometimes internal strife within these alliances weakens the defense lines, allowing the 'enemy' easy access to attack the heart of the matter, which has become vulnerable to deception and the abuse of personal information.
@divegeester saidI've just seen off one RHP member at the airport. He's been here a week. Popped over from Australia. I've got another arriving today who'll be here a week. And in June there's another coming over from Britain for a fortnight. There are several people here who I speak to on the phone. I can't see the attraction of an organized "meet up" with strangers. I would have thought there'd be too much low-grade superficial conversation.
Assuming no cost involved, who here would be up for an in-person meet up?
@fmf saidAlcoholism is chronic illness which is difficult to live with unless you stay sober. Drunk, to me, suggests a condition. A sober alcoholic makes a choice to totally stay away from alcohol for all future which it seems that VR has done
sober alcoholic
Another term one could use, though it's a little different and angled towards the behavioral side, is "dry drunk".
@torunn saidSounds to me like you don't know what "dry drunk" means.
