he was still considered one of the best metal guitar players of all time.
Originally posted by darvlayfar beyond driven was the point when pantera got too boring for me... at first I didn't like cowboys from hell either, mostly because of the falsetto singing. but then the album grew on me, and when far beyond driven came out, I suddenly realized I was missing the old singing and it's variety. too bad the cd mastering in cowboys from hell was still in it's infancy. all of the 80's cds suffer from the same problem though...
Pantera albums, in order of greatness:
1. Far Beyond Driven
2. (tie) Vulgar Display of Power & The Great Southern Trendkill
...and then all the rest (crap).
cowboys from hell
and yea, anselmo made me laugh in american hardcore as well. what the hell were those stoned dorks doing in it anyway? otherwise it was comforting to see most of the angry young men from the hc scene had turned into angry middle-aged men. there's still hope for us all!

And he did a "deut" on a Vision of Disorder track.
And yeah, it was interesting to see all of the stuff with Bad Brains, I've always enjoyed listening to H.R. too, he is very educated, well spoken and fun to watch/see live.
