Phil's falsetto on Cowboys from Hell is what makes it unlistenable to me. Tracks like Shattered, Cemetary Gates, Cowboys from Hell are just too damn hokey for my tastes.

It's called "American Hardcore", it's the movie from the book of the same name. There are parts of it that I have issues with. But over all I thought it was decent.

Topics covered:
- Bad Brains
- Minor Threat and the rise of Ian MacKaye
- Straight edge (just a beginning history of the term and mind set of the straight edge youth at that time)
- Black Flag and the rise of Henry Garfield AKA Henry Rollins
- Circle Jerks just briefly though
- SS Decontrol

They even talk to Mike Patton and Flea.

well then they could've interviewed me instead, and get some actual content. -the problem I have with phil being there is that he really wasn't there. same with moby, who also likes to make noise about his 'hc background'. not to put either of them down or anything, but when we're talking about rollins, morris, flanagan etc, we're not talking about guys like moby & anselmo. they're completely different scene and era. that's like talking about 80's metal and bringing up rammstein.

but of course the moby & anselmo parts are just a tiny fraction of the document, which was pretty nice all in all.

Who's the better Black Flag vocalist? Morris or Rollins??

EDIT - Or Cadena, if you like...

well, actually, chavo's gimme gimme gimme kicks the balls off from morris' version. but in the end, I think I'd go with henry. I feel morris really didn't find his place until circle jerks. although wasted was a classic already.

and this is the absolute, ultimate truth of course.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't think he should have been on it either. And I know what you mean, I'm 29 and started listening when I was a youngin' myself.

I'm not a huge Black Flag fan, but I would say I liked Rollins energy a lot. You could just hear the energy in his voice.
