I don’t understand…rented it. It didn’t play so took it back. The guy said it was “smudged” & cleaned it up and it worked fine at the video store. Got it home & it wouldn’t play. Took it back and exchanged it. That one wouldn’t play either, so I gave up on it. So last week my wife purchased it used at a different video store and guess what? It didn’t play. Is their something on it I’m not supposed to watch?
just download it from the web.

Borat is one of the most witty, intelligent, politically incorrect comedies to come out on the big screen for a long time.
It's just not surprising to see that just because it was a huge commercial success, some pseudo-intellectuals can help themselves and slate it. Sad, really.

...garbage has no paralell to the Christ...
1) He left his village on a mission to meet people and show his love for them.
2) He enjoyed dining with people.
3) He was rejected by the religious establishment (as by the pastor at the fancy dinner in Birmingham).
4) He was a friend to prostitutes.
5) His icecream truck was his metaphorical "donkey."
6) Pamela Anderson was "the pearl of great price."
7)There were times when he had no place to lay his head.
8) When he hears that his wife has died he has the attitude of "why seek the living among the dead."
9) He clearly had issues with Jews.
10) He spoke completely honestly about people like the preacher's wife being ugly.
11) The scene where he sings the national anthem at the rodeo is much like the scene in Luke 4 where Jesus is almost stoned.
OK, now what do you have to say? Have you read the Bible lately or been to church?
...i could print such a list for tamer the lame or adolph hitler or napoleon or john candy the comedian...it is not hard to find paralells
in human lives...the fact that you ask me if i have read the bible or been to church is really an attack...would jesus have attacked me if i
strongly disagreed with him...perhaps...but more likely he would not have...trash is what trash is...if you cannot see the difference between the road and the garbage thrown on the road by those who have walked it then you are suggesting a relative evaluation of life...if that is your road..walk it...but don't state or imply that such a road filled with debris is not to be swept and kept tidy by those who dislike trash as we also walk that same road...

..if it was humor then no apology required...humor is so difficult to express across the net...there is no context and humor requires context...what type of humor do you think the Lord liked when he sat among his followers at the end of a long and tiring day...i would think it would have been ironic humor myslef but if he went into a fawlty towers mode to find some comic relief i would love to see and enjoy it..

Originally posted by NordlysIt was just the opposite for me. I expected it to be dumb and boring--like most commercially successful comedies. I went into it with very low expectations and came away very pleasantly surprised.
I actually expected to find it funny (and witty and intelligent) because of what I had heard about it, but for the most part I didn't.
Originally posted by SeitseI completely agree. I'm not very fussy with movies, once its rolling I'll watch most anything. I rented this a couple months back and I cant remember if I had ever stopped a movie after a half an hour, but I did with this one, I thought it totally sucked. Some people think its great, so I guess to each his own!
I didn't laugh a bit.
Please tell me ALL the people appearing in that movie were PAID big bucks to act like scary, ignorant jerks.
Please.
