Has Rakist said he would have thought the same way for a white or black? I would sure have tried to figure this one out.
When we hear something strange, we want to figure it out.

What do all the switches in the TT Super Dome do? Do they control the TT world?
How do they make Tubby Toast? What's the deal with Naughty Noo-Noo??
These are things I MUST KNOW! My wife thinks I'm nuts.

Television is for entertainment, not overanalysis.
I bet you find a lot of bloopers, don't you?
If my impression is right then it's strange that a friend of his would attach so much significance to the word black.

BTW, I sent that email question out to a bunch of people and it was interesting all the different responses I got back. The one telling me I was a racist was from a black woman who is not particularily fond of me.
So that is interesting to figure out too! Was she calling me a racist because:
1) she doesn't like me and therefore takes whatever I say as bad? or
2) as a black person she's sensitive to such topics?

One of the files I found was a program that used the winning lotto numbers in a database to predict the next winning numbers. I added it to my files and several people d/led it.
Arrakis you should watch NUMBERS and do some maths!
About a month later two people left me messages that they were winning tons of money from that program! One guy had won $12,000!
I regret to say that when I took the BBS down I lost that program. 😳
Never had the time to try it myself.

No problem. The fact that the man was black would have no bearing on your story at all. In other circumstances would you have said:
While watching the show, a white man calls the police and says, "My little sister's brother got shot."
I don't think so. Qualifying that the man was black means that you take notice when people are of a different race to you. Whether that deserves the label of "racist" is another debate.
Since you are talking about crime and large/dysfunctional/broken families, highlighting the man's race would also seem to reinforce social stereotyping. Which might also help to explain the accusation.
EDIT: @Badmoon: Over-analysing? 😀

Maybe all Caucasians would be guilty of this?
Originally posted by arrakisMaybe all people would. I think you'll find a black guy would include white in the reverse situation.

I don't know for sure, maybe people subconciously recognise differences but have to really think to see similarities.
