Is it that he tried to swindle people or that he was successful in his attempt?
If the 2 people involved want Zach banned they should ask Russ and he can then make a decision, if Russ bans him, well thats that. It is not up to the forum "mob" to lynch him whenever they get a chance.
His real crime was that he let a lot of people down, he said he was one thing but was proved to be another. He was loud, friendly, chatty, involved... all the good things that people liked him for, then people found he had some darker secrets and that upset a lot of people. They trusted him, and they were proved to have been wrong in where they placed their trust. It the old "I thought you were my friend" thing, love turns to hate blah, blah, blah.
Give the kid a break, there are worse people out there, and people who have done worse things in the world who play on this site.
Zach, just play some chess, keep your head down and start enjoying life again. And if Zach is really a 67 year old man in living in Birmingham pretending to be a kid for some perverse kick - well I'm just as much an idiot for defending him as someone who pays for someone to be a member of this site without knowing them.

Zach, I'm going to take a little different angle to this thread. Money is money and that is all. What concerns me most in your original post is how RHP had become everything to you. Or as you say, your life, your passion. That is the REAL problem here. And if that is the problem, then you need to apologize for hurting yourself. As great as this site is, it does not take the place of real people we meet and need in our day to day lives. You've got a lot going on in your personal life and this site is no substitute for addressing all that is going on in your personal life in a responsible way. I remember when I was a teenager and my folds were going through a divorce, Christmas was pure hell. Fortunately, I had some therapy to help me through those years.
So remember, this is just a chess site. Money is money, chess is chess. We're talking about you living fully. That matters the most. It's not up to us if you want back in. It may be between you and Russ, but ultimately what you want is what matters. I will remember you tomorrow. Kirk

Furthermore, he actually respected your rediculous requests to leave the site. From beginning to end, the only quarrel here should have been between Zach and Russ, and that was resolved before this "controversy" even began. Zach proclaiming his wrongs to the community was a great show of respect from him to his fellow players, and incessantly I am shown that there are a number of players here that were not worth that respect.
Admitting a crime in the real world still gets you prosecuted - the same should be applied here.
And yes, he did commit a crime... Who said life's lessons were easy?
This site has a great feature - if someone offers you a game and you dont want to play that person - delete it.
Let that speak for your interest in playing Zach or not.
As far as I can see, Russ allowed Zach to stay on the site. That's what it comes down to. Where Zach goes from there is up to Zach.
I will play him, and have told him so, I'm sure others have done the same.
