It would have been ignorant of me, if I knew it was a fictional character, if I knew it was Kunte Kinte, and I still 'ran' to the Admin, to request its removal. That's ignorance.
Now that you do know, do you intend to send Feedback to the Site Admins withdrawing your objection to the avatar?

I was saying you gave an irrational reason because you did. There's nothing intrinsically racist about a black man being shown in chains; in this case the image was of a heroic character who resisted slavery. I compared this image to a picture of Martin Luther King in jail, neither you or any others could give a coherent reason why the first is "racist" gnificant problem with the site and makes these forums considerably less than they could be.
Censorship: No, I don't agree with it. That's not my point here. I'm commenting on Eflame's comments as to WHY she feels this way.
Who gives a crap if RN and Cash are defending her, here? They're idiots.
This isn't the debates forum. I don't believe a person has to defend their emotions. You cannot insert logic here. There are some things you feel in your heart that you don't need to explain to anybody, period. There is some shock to the brain resulting from trauma that cannot be explained, period. Give her a break.

No, they wouldn't. "Most" people on this board did not go running to the Site Admins demanding/asking/requesting that the avatar be removed as "racist". And the poster admits she didn't have any idea who the character depicted was or in what context the image was used!
Censorship based on outright ignorance? Not a good thing.
It was objectionable so be it #1 moron. Russ has spoken, if you don't like it, threaten to take Russ to court.
Originally posted by no1marauderSo, now you're talking about a mini series, which was on tv, how long ago? If it was on TV, here in Aust, I certainly couldn't remember, I may have been a young kid and the only thing that had my attention, was The Famous Five, Dr. Who and Countdown.
Should the mini series Roots have been banned from television because it had "racist" images of black men in chains?
Quite a few hours ago, you would have known, that the pic was of Kunte Kinte. I didn't. You were at an advantage. I wasn't.
I'm doing well : I'm a fool, I"m a troll and now I'm ignorant.

I don't accept that you should be able to demand/request someone else's expression be curtailed just because it makes you uncomfortable absent rational reasons.
