What you're doing is looking at the film from the same perspective as you did 20 years ago. However, you are 20 years older...

How did Indy tie himself to a periscope and survive?
How did Indy actually jump from a plane in a rubber boat?
How does the chalice actually fit in with e fact that you can recognise the man by his shadow putting on the hat says more than enough!
Agreed. It was what Indiana Jones has always been. I think too many folks went in with a critical mindset. They had already set themselves up for failure. 😞 If you went in with no preconceived expectations then it probably at least entertained you. I'd give it a solid B in that respect.

I aggree. I mean, the movie has skulls with mind powers and exploding cities, and people are worried about someone swinging in branches?

quit being so critical and enjoy the movie people!

Ok i'll leave now, its putting me in a bad mood just thinking about it.
The original trilogy was set prior to World War 2 and the new one was some 20 years later, so they had to create a missing time frame. It makes sense that Indy would be a war hero - him being indestuctible and all! EDIT : (Presumably the after effects from drinking from The Holy Grail in the third film - either that or cod liver oil!)

It was a fun film intended to be just that!

Naw, thats bull.

I actually watched the last crusade on tv there a few days ago and the temple of doom the week b4, they were obviously being shown to hype up the new movie. And I was really looking forward to the new one and had heard nothing about it.

Jumping from a plane into a rubber boat is a slight stretch of the imagination, it's what heros do, pull off these amazing stunts and we love it.. It's just when the whole film is just a series of these stunts backed up with crappy special effects and a weak story that I don't like.

Same with star wars actually.. The old 3 had great story lines and gave you that warm feel good factor, the new ones were just a weak story and loads of special effects, same as the new indy film..

Maybe I saw a different movies to you guys. I saw it last Saturday and thought it was a complete hollywood sell out..

Indy turns from this cool, quick witted cowboy type into an indestructible superhero who can survive a nuke being dropped on him... It seemed to be just a money driven attempt t racy theory you can find on the net.

You're better off renting out The last crusade imho.
I never thought of Indy as a cowboy, though I can see the superficial resemblance (hat, gun, whip kinda like a lariat).

I for the most part enjoyed it, my son though loved it. It was very similar to the original ones so you have to take it tongue in cheek. Though it was a bit predictable, it was a fun summer movie. You can't always have your cake and eat it too. A lot of people forget that just like Star Wars when you originally saw the movies and fell in love with them you were 20 to 25 years younger depending on what series you love. My son who grew up with Episodes 1-3 thinks they are better than 4-6. You forget how much influence a movie can have when you're younger compared to when you have matured and changed your thinking patterns towards life.

Kinda like those movies! My username is based in part off a piece from the third movie called "Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra."
