Somehow, I don't think I'm going to get too much of a response to a Cork meet. Unless anyone is interested...? I'd be glad to have a Dublin meet and a Cork meet. I'll head up to Dublin either way. Anyone interested in a Cork meet, let me know.
Side note: Does anyone know where I can buy chess boards, clocks and such in Cork? I'd just be lookin ...[text shortened]... for your basic "roll up the board when you're done" stuff, and an "it works" clock...
1. Provide you with some good opponents and/or
2. Put you in touch with whoever supplies them with chess stuff (probably the London based, "Chess and Bridge Centre" (or it's something like that.)

Thanks for the link btw. Gah. Runtime error. Link no worky.
I have a response from one person interested in a Cork meet as well. If anyone in the south-west sort of area would be interested, send me on a message. We could possibly have two Ireland meets - one in Dublin, and one in the other capital, Cork. Any chess rebels can send me a message with any suggestions and we'll see if we can get this going.
"Calling Cadwah. Cadwah to the Ireland meet up thread, please."
Jeez - Cad's not here, but it doesn't change the meetup at all. Except for the part that he won't be there. I know he's wicked popular in the old chess website circle, but irl, he's kind of ugly. (No offense Cad, just a fancy bump post, which totally abuses your online fame.)
Seriously people - any interest?

You should talk - You were stuck in Leitrim. Leitrim doesn't even have a city, nevermind one with clocks.
I'd be game for a meet up (from dublin) but I currently live in Western Australia. Do plan on being home sometime in the next few months. Although it may not happen.....
OK here's what we're going to do .
Me and St00pidfac3 will each start seperate threads.
Mine will be "Ireland Meet - Dublin"
And St00pid's will be "Ireland Meet - Cork"
Once both are created, i will ask Russ to send links to both threads to everyone with Ireland flags.
St00pid, Pick a date, or a couple of dates for everyone to chose from, to give the whole thing a little Direction. If you don't have a venue, then ask for ideas for one in the first Post. I'm going to shoot for July 19th.
St00pid, PM me if you want to do something different 🙂

I'm going to leave my dates open. It turns out, I live about a hundred metres from the Cork Chess Club meetings.
As far as dates are concerned, I'm open to what's best for everyone.
See the Ireland Meet - Cork thread.

If i shoot for a July meet (might be hard for vacations, but we managed June last year), so i'm not in too much of a hurry to get it out there.
Originally posted by huckleberryhound0 Yeah - the "disappeared" part was where I was moving and had no internet - worst two weeks of my life. Any way, Dublin is still the home of the original Ireland meetup, and since I still have to visit my mother (Irish Mom giving me the guilt trip if I don't) I'm still well happy being a part of the Dubs meet. Even if I have to say that the Dubs have a rotten hurling team, and Cork are wicked awesome.

Edit: July? That's giving both of us plenty of time - I could recruit people to join RHP just so they could show at the meet and make it look like I win. My plan was more along the lines of "Feel like playing chess?" "Yeah,? Sweet, just let me take some pictures first, so I can pretend I had a meet."
