I'm told that bullfighting traces it's origins back to the Roman games. I propose then that they stop that, which is clearly mean to the bull, and bring back proper gladiator fights. To the death, obviously. That would sell far better than some guy in tight trousers stabbing a cow.

I think you all should stop wasting your energy on trying to stop a secular tradition and start focusing on more important issues...
Originally posted by MimorIt is! I agree! Me and my wife went to a bullfight in southern Spain. My wife was so nosey, and intrigued, that she kept leaning over the edge and eventually fell in. Purse, passports, tissues etc. all smudged all over the sand. It was a complete mess. Blood everywhere. Fighting for 10 minutes with body rolls and spot on hits to the body with deep jousts and holes.

The hospital worked for 24 hours, but the ruddy Bull still died. 😉

Why, just because it's Ariana Huffington's site?
Your powers of observation are non-existent.
Was the bull fighter's frenum impaled on the bull's horn? NO! Therefore......trick photo-graphy. Case closed.
GRANNY.

Originally posted by Raven69Bullfighting notwithstanding, civilization is more cultured than that of the Romans. The gladiator fights or martyrdom of Christians and other enemies of the state pales in comparison to some of the brutal, hedonistic, sexual torture that some of the Caesars and elite Romans would view as "entertainment". I can't say any more than that.

Originally posted by BadwaterThe uncivilized side of society may be less conspicuous or obvious than it was in the glory days of Rome, but it is still there. Minority groups are still being ostracized. People are developing more efficient ways of killing each other in their senseless wars. A good portion of the world lives in poverty and most people are too busy with their own problems to care.
