They are best served cold from the fridge, one cuts them in half, extracts the large stone and eats it with a small spoon like it was a rather delicious egg. Alternatively one can make mango Lassi, which is a rather delicious drink made from crushed ice, milk and fresh mangoes, liquidised to give a wonderful mango milk shake. If you have never tasted a Pakstani mango, you have not lived. Mango season begins in may and ends late July, awesomeness, the king of fruits!
are really delicious

oh dear... fridges kill fruit. kill them. google it if you don't believe me. ever put your fruit in the fridge... fruit goes into the fridge = flavor and nutrients going out of the fruit. fact.

Originally posted by trev33bumf trev, Pakistanis have been doing this for years. These are fresh seasonal fruit not the stuff you get in Tescos. i dont need to google it, i lived there and experienced it. Mango eating as sonhouse mentioned is a national pastime, we used to buy a few kgs, put them in the fridge and the whole family would happily sit around eating them. Google knows nothing! how can the nutrients go out if it has not even been cut?

Originally posted by dueceri sometimes bought guava but my favourites were lychees. Pomegranates were also nice as were the water melons. Its plastic fruit the supermarkets sell in Europe, its tastes of nothing and smells of nothing. I remember the apples we used to eat, you smelt them before you tasted them, same with the oranges.

Add some scrambled eggs & mashed bean tacos and you get the best farts ever. EVAH!!!
Actually on a rather serious note i was speaking with my friend from Texas and he was telling me of the dangers that Mexicans face trying to cross the border. Some poor souls die of exposure in that desert. I wondered why Mexico is so bad that persons wanted to leave it, risking life and at the mercy of unscrupulous employers. Is it the corruption? the police brutality? violence and drugs? what it is Setitse?

btw just because pakistanis have been doing it your years doesn't mean it's not wrong/stupid... american have been voting republican for years... scotland have persisted in trying to play rugby for years... and the list goes on and on.
btw stating how 'best' to eat something in itself is pretty ridiculous... we all have our personal preferences... and yes i've also mango just picked from a tree and while it doesn't compare to stuff we get here (which should be ashamed to call itself a mango) i still say the papaya kicks it's ass π
Originally posted by trev33one puts them in the fridge because they are tastier. Its like beer, would you drink a luke warm pilsner? i wouldn't, its best served chilled, same with mangoes! seasonal ones anyway.

You shall get a pasting for your insolence my Celtic cousin, so you beat the Angles, but then again, they marched their horses and cavalry all the way up here, camped on marshy ground with the river Forth at their back and wondered why they got a pasting at Bannockburn! duh!
I stated that the method of halving the mango is better and spooning it out, for i think another poster mentioned that it can be rather messy, this is the case if you slice it up! Papaya is all right, no doubt, but mango is King π
Originally posted by robbie carrobieyou know what else i love that you just can't get here... those little bananas, au they were damn goood.

some people would drink warm beer... not me but i do prefer lukewarm mango over refrigerated mango. for me eating a freezing cold mango is just like drinking a warm beer. but whatever floats your boat.
ok, i'm going to shut up about rugby until after the ireland/scotland match... just in case π
what were the melons like in pakistan? there's one i had in peru, think it might have been native, couldn't find it anywhere else... or at least not as abundantly. it was soft on the outside and smaller than your regular melon that we get here. sooooo good.
