Chara:
I learned Wing Chun for a few years. It wasn't the modern, updated version, but the old style. Needless to say, i loved it big-time!!
I learn't the first two (there is three) forms, and i was considerably good at the rolling hands; if you don't know, that is extreme close combat, using both arms...oh, and knee's and feet of course. In Wing Chun, it is all about close contact fighting...always in striking distance with the hands.
It is based on three styles of fighting: the crane...the tiger, and the snake. It was tought to a women whom was trying to get out of a marraige to some man she didn't want to marry by a shoalin nun a few hundred years ago...hence the start of it. It is one of the oldest forms still being practised today. Needless to say, it is known as a soft art...a womens art. Yes, it is soft, using the other persons strength against them, but when it connects, it can be very devastating.
I haven't done it for a few years, but i am looking into starting back at it again; i miss my slender form when i did that; i want my six-pack back!!
Slan...
