@badradger saidIt was framed, dodgy craftsmanship in Belfast did it, there was no iceberg, it just sunk.
@rookie54
one film I never wanted to watch was Titanic, i know the plot ....THE ICEBERG DID IT.
@rookie54 saidThe three movies you've promoted from your youth are excellent selections.
or movies that are so good, in yer estimation, that they deserve promotion
i have never seen any of the john wick action movies starring keanu reeves
tonight i shall begin to rectify that, as i've purchased a three dvd set of the first three installments
if you wish to bemoan my foolishness about paying for a thing that some folks think is free to pirate, go ahead, i'v ...[text shortened]... first "friday the 13th" before i squealed and ran home to mommy
i think i'm seeing a pattern here
I think the heady "Andromeda Strain" remains pertinent and still holds up well to this day.
A few other contemporary "thinking persons'" films that deserve promotion:
- "The Graduate" - 1967
- "Charly" - 1968
- "Planet of the Apes" - 1968
- "Easy Rider" - 1969
- "M*A*S*H" - 1970
- "Soylent Green" - 1973
As for movies I've haven't yet seen:
- "Fahrenheit 451" - 1966
- "Midnight Cowboy" - 1969
And most embarrassingly...I've never been able to finish:
- "2001: A Space Odyssey" - 1969
@earl-of-trumps saidSay what??
Tons I've never seen. The one I have heard used in jokes and comparisons by friends of mine is "Groundhog Day"
You've never seen "Groundhog Day"?
Such a great movie deserves to be seen over and over...and over and over and over again!
@woofwoof saidAgree, great film, repeat daily.

@a-unique-nickname saidcould be right them ulstermen are as thick as 2 short Yanks
It was framed, dodgy craftsmanship in Belfast did it, there was no iceberg, it just sunk.
stuff came up last night
didn't even open the dvd box
i have never seen the "godfather" flicks, and they're on my list of to do
"the departed" is a heck of a great flick
however, "lost in translation" will not be on my list of movies to watch
my ego is fairly stupid and i've got the notion it's a chick flick and will not subject my tear ducts to any possible leakage
put "the notebook" on that same verboten list
besides, isn't the protagonist an english dude?
i get enough of that pretension right here
movies on my list to rewatch, "the african queen", "men in black", and "dude, where's my car?"
possibly "up in smoke" as well, but some of that sort of crazy tempts me fiercely to resume bad habits
@divegeester saidIMAO it is a great general fantasy flick, but a very poor adaptation of the book.
The reason I’ve not seen any of the Lord of the Ring sequels is because I watched the first one and didn’t think much of it.
@rookie54 saidI need to watch it again, one of the all time best.
"being john malkovich" is beyond excellent
i recommend watching while sober, otherwise it can be hard to grasp the nuance
@shallow-blue saidI haven’t read any of the books in the series so my interest in the movie adaptation was thin in the first place. I suppose the move was well put together but the story itself didn’t engage me. I have friends who absolutely love the series; they are big Harry Potter fans also and have visited the exhibition thing in London more than once - I don’t understand that myself, however should the chance occur I would visit the Smithsonian Museum just to see the original model of the USS Enterprise.
