The sooner you notify the police the sooner they will get on the case, and get the guns off the street. Maybe the kid didn't do it, but he knows who did.

I favor the revolver, you can load it and forget about it for years, just grab it and go. No problems, just pull the trigger, unlike an automatic, which may leave you confused at 2 AM in the dark when you've just woken up from an alcoholic slumber and you're wondering if there's a round in the chamber, or you need to rake the slide back, or if there's a safety on, etc. An autoloader should also have the magazine switched out every year or two to release the spring tension and such, as well as being taken out and oiled every now and again. Automatic pistols require some care and familiarization. Wheel guns require much less.
Best load/cartridge? .357 Magnum with at least a four inch barrel. 125 grain hollowpoint.

As good as that advice is, I currently keep a 9 shot .22 revolver by my nightstand, I figure it'll do the job just fine. Not like I'm gonna get into a firefight anytime soon.

Yeah but there'll be thousands less home shootings and accidents. Criminals already use guns; banning them won't stop them from using them anyway.

Isn't it true that America has the most cases of Citizen on citizen gun attacks in the world ?

I'm not the brains of britain, but the numbers concearning people being killed with their own weapons are also kinda freaky (technical term). 😛

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

- Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

The problem here, is that this clearly only gives the right to keep and bear arms if a "well regulated militia" is necessary. Since there is a proper military service (as opposed to a militia of local citizens,) put in place after this was ratified, it no longer holds true.

A gun is a tool like any other tool. It must be used responsibly. I'm not going to give up my gun just because the criminals will have them anyway. Are you crazy? I'm not giving up my car either because people have accidents with them. Doctors kill 110,000 patiants every year because of pure negligence. I'm not talking about mistakes. I'm talking criminal negligence. So ban every doctor then. Ok, ban all guns. I guess i'll have to turn into a criminal and not obey the law. Suits me. Thak's OK, right? Criminals are going to have them anyway.
