@divegeester saidNot sure why anyone would thumb/down your response.š¤ Sounds like you are having a lovely time.š
The weather, as you will be aware, is gorgeous in most of the UK this week. There are four of us plus two small dogs; it is idyllic.
We are currently moored at Crickhowell since last night and will stay here again tonight. Crickhowell is a beautiful little town and this morning we found a lovely cafe serving superb Eggs Royal and Eggs Benedict. Later, and with a pint ...[text shortened]... he tow-path.
I am currently lazing on my bunk contemplating the scenery across the canal. Bliss.
@great-big-stees saidI know exactly why, and probably who.

It would be impossible not to have a lovely time in these circumstances š
@divegeester saidSo I thumbed up the OP.
Next week I’m narrowboating on a southern Wales canal.
Who else here has been narrowboating before?
I hope you had a good time!
@divegeester saidHave a wonderful time. Weather is perfect for narrow boating

Not in southern Wales, but in the north, there's an aqueduct that looks interesting called Pontcysyllte. You can row along it but I don't know if narrowboats can cross it. It's in the town my dad was from, Wrexham.
@yo-its-me saidYes, on the Llangollen canal; we have done that one a couple of times many years ago and the four of us are considering it again for next year. My favourite on the UK canals I’ve navigated.

@yo-its-me saidLike most people we hire.
You take your narrow boat on it then?
Edit: oh you mean over the aqueduct?
Yes. Three two aqueducts actually.
@divegeester saidYeah, I meant over the aqueduct. It looked unsafe for a narrow boat.

I've never been narrow boating, but I think I'd like it to stay near the ground if I was in it!
@yo-its-me saidI can understand that!

Here’s an aerial photo of one of the canal aqueducts.

@very-rusty saidWhy do I need to “get rid of my electronics”?
Get rid of your electronics and enjoy the beauty.
@divegeester saidIt's interesting how often meanspirited oafs seek to project a lack of life skills/interpersonal skills onto OTHER people.

Several miles of gentle cruising of the Monmouth & Brecon canal comes to an end this morning as we return the narrowboat to the wharf. The weather across the uk has been extraordinary this week providing a backdrop of relentless sunshine and tanned faces as we mixed happily with other boaters.
Today was so hot that we moored up for a couple of hours and trudged down from the canal to the river Usk where we waded in the refreshingly cool waters under the shade of the Brecon aqueduct.
I have especially enjoyed the company and welcome of the Welsh people and the local wildlife.
We all managed to stay connected to friends and family despite the sometimes intermittent mobile signal and the lack of a magical internet laptop.
A highly recommended type of holiday.
