@divegeester saidI'm sad to see so much money spent on things that could, I guess, be arranged with less. However, hotels, restaurants and other facilities - from the biggest to the smallest - benefit from these events and that is a good thing, no doubt. I am, as you can read, ambiguous, but disturbed.
The Olympic opening ceremonies are overblown and a waste of money, especially this one in Paris which was mostly a preposterous spectacle of nonsense.

@Torunn saidIm pretty sure advertising revenue covers the expenses. So the Olympic committee does not really spend a dime. Who is going to convince the big businesses to give away their money to the needy instead of advertising in the Olympic games?

@Rajk999 saidI wouldn't know, but I think there is something fundamentally wrong with big business.

@Torunn saidI would disagree. Big businesses are essential for prosperity. Any country that do not have them cannot prosper. There is a something fundamentally wrong with governments that cannot control big businesses and use big businesses for the benefit of the people.

@happy-chappy saidThe women’s diving is a bit cheeky.
I'm thinking that they may not reach a happy ending.

@A-Unique-Nickname saidIs it on now? I can’t seem to find it.
Best part of the Olympics on at the moment, the preliminaries for the 100m. 100m in 11.5 seconds? No problem, you're in the Olympics.
@happy-chappy saidWould you say a happy ending has occured? For the Games as such, for the winners, how about unfortunate losers?
