First off, Freud's model of the mind consists of 3 parts: the id, the ego and the superego.
id - the unconcious part of the mind, incorporates the animal instincts and passions (both positive and negative), and operates without reason
ego - the concious, reasoning part of the mind, tries to keep the id in check, but can't always do it
superego - the combination of the ego and the fear of domination from the outside world, serves to keep the id in check when the ego can't do it alone
When the id takes over, you take perverse glee in acting out your unbridled passions. The ego and superego repress the id, so that you can operate without pure violence, hatred, lust, etc... When someone tells a joke and you laugh, Freud speculated that the punchline gets to your id before the ego and superego have a chance to shut it down, thereby giving you a moment of glee and making you laugh. This explains why timing is so important in comedy, because you need the proper timing to distract the ego and superego. It's could also explain why vulgarity is funny if it's unexpected, but not so funny if it is.

The Clan of Crap is gathering momentum, even if I have WON a game. However, it the truth be known, it was only cos of a timeout! Had to take it though as my opponent kept asking me to play faster and then timed out, you reap what you sow and all that!
It's almost worth signing up - perhaps RHP will give us a group discount if we all sign up purely to be able to join the Clan of Crap (CoC)??
